The purpose of this tournament is to provide low cost and fair competitive action and to acquaint all local players with other possible future partners or opponents. Experience is not necessary; a rewarding or at least enlightning experience is guaranteed for all. A brief explanation of rules and entry requirements follows. In filling out the registration form each participant may enter three divisions. Using January 1st of each year as the fixed date to determine age for the divisions will be standard. If you are 18 today, but turned 18 after January 1st you may play in the 17 year old bracket. The rules for play are standard, using love, 15, 30, 40, game point scoring. All games will be won by two points. All sets will be played to tie and then a seven point a tiebreaker will be played. This rule is mandatory as time will be restricted. All matches are to be best of three sets. Each participant must furnish one tennis ball for each match. If you are a beginner and are scheduled to play a beginner you may request assistance in scoring. All results and schedules will be posted at The Beaver Press office and at Mike's Foodtown and run in The Beaver Press at the end of each week. We hope that interest is high and that all who feel the urge for adventure will risk the $2.50 entry fee and come have fun. Because of the uncertainty of the actual number of participants likely to register, some of the divisions might have to be consolidated. ENTRY DEADLINE Sept. 1st.
