COLUMN IS A LONG TIME For the week ending August 2, health officers reported a total of 140 resident and nonresident cases of communicable diseases as compared with .125 cases for the previous week, and 233 cases for the corresponding week last year. There have been no new cases local of the following diseases reported: diptheria, meningitis, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, smallpox or undulant fever. During the past week there were two cases of poliomyelitis reported by physicians and local health officers as compared with five cases for the previous week. Both cases this week were re ported from Salt Lake City; one case being a five year old girl & the other a twelve year old boy. There were nine resident cases of pulmonary tuberculosis re-- ; ported, one from Duchesne, one from Salt Lake County, five from Salt Lake City, one from Provo, and one from Washington County.
