Show B Page Four First War Bride Arrives SOCIAL NEWS r CHRISTEKSEH'SHUMAH MARRIAGE AXKOUXCED Mrs. Carrie A. Christensen of Bear River City, announces the marriage of her daughter, Loa Mae, to Oleen Shuman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Brooks Shuman of Penrose. The wedding ceremony was performed February 28 in Long Beach, California, by Bishop Meyers. The bride wore a lovely pin strip gray suit with an orchid. She was attended by Beverly Tanner of Pomona and Wayne Hales the duties of best man. The bride is a student at the Bear River high school. The program consisted of two vocal solos by Mrs. Leon Chris tiansen, accompanied by Mrs. Howard Freiss and Beulah Moore read the play, "The Dough Girls". Mrs. Mildred Harris' and Mrs. Natalie Cochran attended the program. . Mrs. Ed Winchester was surprised on her birthday Friday, when several women of the Methodist church met at her home for a social hour. Due to an error, Mr. Roberts was nornotified of his wife's arrival in Ogdcn and she came to Tremonton with John Williams, a brakeman on the train and a neighbor of the Robertscs. A reception and dance was held Wednesday evening in the Elwood recreation hall, in honor of Roy and his bride. A program was held preceding the dance wfth Edward Heslop acting as master of ceremonies. The program began with the community singing of "America" and Wm. J. Roberts, a cousin of the groom offered the invocation. A solo was then sung by Bobby Berch-tolof Penrose and Charles List, faculty member from the Bear River high school, remarked about his associations with the family. Betty Lee Anderson of Elwood rendered a soprano solo followed by a few remarks by C. E. Smith, former principal of the high school, who spoke about the family and his relationships with Roy as a student. A clever reading using the family's life history was given by Erma Burke followed by a musical number by Val A response was then given by the young couple and two musical numbers followed; a solo by Peggy Allen and an accordian duet by the Erickson sisters. One of the most outstanding dances held this season in Elwood entertained the large crowd the remainder of the evening. Many lovely gifts were received by the honored couple. Mrs. Roberts is the former Ileen Dorothy Williams of Bristol, England. The ceremony was performed there in June, 1945.
