Val is in the Army Air Corps and has been in training the past six months, the most recent station being at Tampa, Florida, where he will report back on the 10th of July. Mr. and Mrs. John Barfuss have had an interesting letter from their son, Lyle, who is in New Cuinea, in which he tells that they had finally seen the sun after twenty-thre- e days of almost continual rain. During a recent three day trip in which the men slept in hammocks, it was necessary to empty the water from the hammocks in the middle of the night, it rained so hard. The trip took them eight miles up a stream, which they waded and into a native village which was most interesting to them. Odell Bradshaw, of the U. S. Navy, arrived here at 3 o'clock Monday morning to spend five days with his parents and friends. He will return Saturday morning to his base in Iowa. is now a Seaman 2nd class, aboard an aircraft carrier. The are reasonably sure that Harold is now on active duty. Ferron Neal Robbins has returned home from Farragut, where he completed his boot taining. He is expected back at Farragut July 7th. Ferron is a son of Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Robbins of Tremonton. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Allen were delightfully surprised Sunday afternoon, when their son, Reese, arrived home on a short leave. He ha3 been attending the Naval ofn ficers candidate school at the University at Granville, Ohio. He TREMONTON MERCHANT'S COMMITTEE Thursday, jane bombardiers and navigators are receiving preflight training to prepare them for aerial instruction and duties as aircrew members in the Army Air Forces. The future fliers are subjected to a vigorous program of instruction covering physical, academic and military training. At the Cadet Center they study maps and charts, aircraft identification, small arms and other subjects while being conditioned physically panying planes were unable to furnish any other details with reference to the disappearance of this bomber. IP&UPfflCfl XL8 Seaman 2c Delbert Nelson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Nelson of Howell, arrived home June 10 for a 15 day leave, after completing his boot camp training at Farragut, Idaho. He reported back on the 20th. at City Park, following program. Sgt. Emery Nelsen left Sunlay for Camp Barkley, Texas, after having spent a two weeks furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Nelsen of Penrose. Mr, and Mrs. J. B. Shuman of Penrose, have received word that .their son, Olcen, has been promoted to Baker 3c, which Is equal to Sergeant In the Army. He is stationed In Rhode Island and has sent a box of his things home, so Its looks like he may be leaving DDQo 11 :30 at First Ward Pvt. Devere Stokes of Promontory, returned to a camp in Maryland last Tuesday. Mrs. Preston Anderson, of Howell, has received word from her husband, Sgt Preston Anderson, that he has arrived safely in England. Sgt. Anderson flew over. Lt. and Mrs. Don C. Gunnell, formerly of Howell, are the proud parents of a baby girl, born June 19th. Lt. and Mrs. Gunnell are living at Salinas, California where he is stationed with the armed forces. So hg .
