Show 1944 -- Policy Holders To and Mrs. Elaine Hansen spent the weekend in Fairview visiting his mother and other relatives. A party was held Saturday wish to announce that I will continue to give the same courteous service to all my policy holders in Bear River Valley, as in the past, although I have moved evening honoring Mr. Hansen's brother, Vera, who is home on a furlough before going to parts unknown. Mr. and Mrs. Odell Romer and Mrs. Carl Romer went to Logan Friday, where they met Mrs. Roomer's mother, Mrs. Alma Morrison Sr. and brother, Mr. and Mrs. Alma Morrison, Jr. and they all went through the Temple together. Mrs. Hansen, of Preston, Idaho, was a guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Anderson over the weekend. n Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum C. and Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Francom have returned home after spending the winter at St. George, where they have done much temple work. They enjoyed the milder climate of St. George in the winter, but return home for the summer months. We are very happy to have them back again. Mrs. Ver Anderson spent Wednesday in Salt Lake City. Last Wednesday and Thursday a number of people met at the church and greatly improved the appearance of our grounds. More trees were planted and some old ones and shrubs were replaced and the grounds generally improved. This ia just the beginning of the improvement plan. A new furnace is to be installed and this is to be done as soon as possible so it will be ready for use when cold weather comes on. A Mother's Day program will be given at the regular Sunday School next Sunday. It is hoped that every mother in the ward will come and bring their plants that they received last year. A prize will be given for the best plant. A number of people from here attended the funeral of Andrew Erickson in Salt Lake City Monday. Mr. Erickson spent the greater part of his early life at Elwood and has many friends and acquaintances here. He also has two brothers living here, Emanuel and John. They have the love and sympathy of the community. Mr. and Mrs. Amos P. Hansen attended the funeral and their daughter, Mrs. Howard Shurtz, returned home with them for a brief visit between trips. He is very weak and the people of Elwood ward extend their love and prayers to him. I a BEAR RIVER CITY Wednesday afternoon, Mrs. Ver-ly- n Mortensen entertained a gTOup of ladies at her home, it being her birthday. Mrs. Albert Holmgren is in California visiting her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Cope. Mrs. Lorna Christ ensen had the following friends to supper Wednesday night: Rennie Johnson, Or-vIverson, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Holmgren, Con Hansen and Wen-ni- e Jensen. Saturday afternoon Ruby Anderson had a group of friends come to her birthday dinner. Mrs. II. P. Thorsen and Mrs. Dewey Ramsdell spent one day in Salt Lake on business. Miss Lola Jensen announces her engagement to Harland Anderson. They will be married the first part of June. A number of people from the ward went to the Logan Temple last week. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Reese are very proud grandparents these days. Their daughter, Alice is the mother of a fine baby boy. Many children are out of school because they all have whooping cough. Miss Lola Jensen and Harland Anderson spent last Saturday in Salt Lake, shopping. Mr. and Mrs. Coy Gardner and baby visited at the home of Coy's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Gardner, one day last week. Lorna Gardner, Arva Arbon, Bettv Archibald, who are employed in Brieham, snent the weekend with their parents. Sunday evening, Betty Bronson, Jean Mortensen and Bonnie Hansen were graduated from Primary and admitted into the Mutual. A very appropriate service was given honoring them. Reed Petersen was honored guest at a birthday dinner last Sunday afternoon. Twenty guests enjoyed the dinner and an afternoon of fun. William Petersen received word that his mother, Mrs. Johanne Petersen at Springfield, Oregon is not well. She has many friends in this valley, having lived here for nearly 50 years. She is nearly 94 years old and until very recently has enjoyed excellent health. She has been bedfast for ten days or more.
