Bong, cause peak production has come earlier this year, there will be more than enough eggs for all civilians, as well as for military requirements. Eggs are one of the best meat alternates, considering protein content. One egg contains about 7 grams of protein, so an "egg a day" would supply about 50 grams of protein per week, making nearh of the weekly rely hundred grams of five quirement for adults. See that your children have at least one egg each day in some form. Here is an impressive list of valuable protective elements contained in each egg: Vitamin A, vitamin B, Ribollavin (B-- 2 and G), vitamin D, vitamin E, neacin, vitamin K, vitamin 6 (pyridoxin) pantothenic acid and iron. The secret of success in cooking eggs and dishes containm eggs is to cook slowly at a moderate, even heat. You will avoid any toughness and indigestibility. Eggs may be used in cakes, cereals, meat dishes, salads, sandwiches, salad dressings, sauces, souffles, croquettes, quick breads, desserts and beverages. Home maker! Use eggs now while they are especially abundant. America's combat ace, to accept a case of Scotch whiskey as a reward for shooting down 27 Jap planes, is "gratifying" says the Women's Christian Temperance Union. Lauding Gen. MacArthur for his ruling, Mrs. Ida B. Wise Smith, national WCTU president, said: "this is one of the few times when a military leader has become a moral leader." She said it was a "bold challenge to other military leaders who should realize that it keynotes the handling of the entire liquor problem as far as servicemen are concerned." Mrs. Smith praised Maj. Bong, a teetotaler who asked for soft drinks in place of whiskey, for "demonstrating to the nation the value of total abstinence." Capt. Eddie Rickenbacker had offered the liquor as a reward for Bong breaking his record of shooting down 26 enemy planes in World War I. Gen. MacArthur respected the offer and said he did not consider "liquor or spirituous wines as appropriate recognition of Bong's deeds." Rlckenbacker's offer was accepted by the ace for his comrades while he also accepted an offer of soft drinks from Gen. H. H. Arnold, chief of army air forces. one-tent- B-- Cor-inn- e, Wil-lar- 1944.
