It is a very ugly bug that ea.t3 our money. We all have decided to put our money into war stamps and starve this horrible bug. The school has a war stamp booth in which they sell stamps every Friday. When ninety per cent of the children in school buy stamps we have the privilege of having a flag waving under the American flag. Thursday, we had an American Legion assembly. It was supposed to have been on November 11, Armistice Day, but the upper grades were out for another week beet vacation so it was postponed until December 7th, the anniversary of Pearl Harbor. President C. E. Smith gave a very good speech about freedom on the assembly. While reading our Young Citizen (our newspaper) there was a question, "What is a wobbie?" Does anyone know what a wobbie is, We wrote a letter to Washington, D. C, where the Young Citizen is published and asked what a wobbie is. We hope to get an answer soon. Donna Green, Reporter In our Miss Davis' Room mom we are talking about many kinds of houses. The first houses were tree houses and we are learning of the different houses people have lived in up to the houses we have now. We are making a large book of pictures and stories about these house3. He is a big, horrible, greedy bug. Every time we buy unnecessary things, such as candy and gum with our money, we feed this horrible bug and make him fat We want to starve him to death, so let's spend our money for stamps and bonds. Monday afternoon, Miss Adams and Miss Davis took us into the gym and taught us a new Christmas song, while Miss Sorensen attended Nancy Roger's funeral. We bowed our heads in memory of Dale Thomas and Glen Adams. When our room buys stamps we make little faces on paper grapes. We hang the grapes under a paper ribbon that says, "Our bunch buys bonds and stamps. Most of our grapes are up. Our room is making plans for a Christmas party. We have a committee for games, program, refreshments and decorations. All of us can hardly wait for Christmas. RoWane Thomas, Reporter Miss Morris' 6th Grade We just started last week to buy bonds and stamps at school. If you buy a stamp it will just bring the war ten or twenty-fiv- e cents nearer the end. If you buy a bond, it will help even more. That doesn't sound like very much, but every dime you give will buy a bullet for a gun. We have much to accomplish this school year, so we must hurry and buy all the stamps we can. Licking stamps is good for your diet, too. They have lots of vitamin V.
