CAROLINA Miss Beth Mortensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. M Mortensen, of Elwood, has enlisted for service in the woman's division of the Marines. Miss Mortensen is the first girl from the valley to Join the organization. She plans to leave in the near future for a training camp in North Carolina. Miss Mortensen graduated from Bear River high school in 1939. In her senior year she served as For secretary of the student-bodthe past two years she has been employed by Keith O'Brien Company in Salt Lake as a beauty operator. 'i&izm I) 8 Thatcher Family Has Five Sons In Armed Services Many different sections of the country have been honoring families having the largest number in the service. Bear River Valley has not been left without honor and is proud to announce that there are five sons of Mr. and Mrs. Alben Bergstrom of Thatcher in the service of our country. The youngest of the ifcre are Rulon and Rolan Bergstrom, 18, twin brothers, inducted into the army the same day. They are serving together in Camp Walters, Texas. The next is Boyd, 21, who is a Marine and is serving somewhere in the Pacific. Clyde, 24, is also a Marine and is serving in the same battle zone but not in the same group as his younger brother, Boyd. Roy, 26, is in the Medical Corps in a camp in Washington, Recent reports to their family and to the Bishop of their ward indicate they are enjoying the best of health. In behalf of our entire valley, the Tremonton Junior Chamber of Commerce wish to extend heartfelt congratulations and thanks of us all to this family for its splendid contribution to our war effort.
