Cpl. Woodward, is a nephew of the Woodwards and Mrs. Slatter is a sister of Mr. Woodward. n, FRIENDS ENTERTAINED AT RANSOM HOME W. S. C. S. ENJOY OUTDOOR PARTY The members of the W, S. C. S. and their husbands and friends roast enjoyed an outdoor wiener on the grounds of the Methodist parsonage last Saturday evening. A pleasant time was enjoyed by the large group attending. CIVIC LEAGUE ENTERTAINED Members of the Civic League met last Thursday afternoon in the Utah Power and Light Co. auditorium with LaVon Fronk" as hostess. Reports on the success of the parade and concessions sponsored by the League on the Fourth were given by committee members. Two new members were accepted into the League. They are Jensen and Faunice Laub. Nettie B. Lund talked on "Quickly Prepared Meals," after which refreshments were served by the hostess. The next meeting of the group will be on August 5th at the home of Glenna Hales. Mar-oel- la Mrs. James Ransom delightfully entertained the members of the B. V, Bridge club Wednesday evening at her home. Following luncheon, eight guests enjoyed the evening with the game. Prizes went to Mrs. Gifford Watland, Mrs. Joe Burgess and Mrs. Guy Johnson. ; MRS. RICHARDSON HOSTESS TO FRIENDS An evening of Bridge was enjoyed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arch Richardson last Wednesday when she entertained for a group of close friends. Prizes at the game were won by Mrs. Jack Shumway, Mrs. Ed Fronk and Mrs. Lynn Thomas. A delicious luncheon was served by the hostess. BRUCE STEVENS HAS BIRTHDAY PARTY Honoring the 9th birthday of her son, Bruce, Mrs. Frank Stevens entertained at a party on Monday at their home. Twelve guests enjoyed the games and luncheon and other events of the party. BIRTHDAY OF CAROL JANE HOMER FETED Twelve little friends of Carol Jane Homer were entertained Friday on her seventh birthday at a party given by her mother, Mrs. Don J. Homer. Games were played by the guests and a tasty luncheon was served. MRS. Osborne, of Ogden, visited last week with her daughter, Mrs. Donald Sheffield and family. The family of Fred Hansen met at his home Tuesday evening this week to honor him on the occasion of his eightieth birthday anniversary. Guests numbering more than fifty came from Bear River City, Elwood, Tremonton and Brigham City, and were served a delicious hot chicken dinner. A pleasant time of visiting and reminiscing was enjoyed together. Mr. Hansen was bom in Denmark and came to America at the age of 20 years. He lived for a short time in Bear River City, then moved to South Tremonton in 1883 where he homesteaded, being among the first settlers in this section. His first wife and the mother of two daughters, passed away in 1901 and he later married Bertha Johnson. The two older daughters and eight children by the second wife are living at the present time. They are: Mrs. Ivan Johnson, Mrs. Archie McNeil and Harry Hansen, of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Amos Iverson, Mrs. Moroni Ward, Mrs. Ves Roundy, Mrs. Frank Hall and Fred Hansen, Jr., and two sons in military service: Raymond Hansen in Honolulu with the National Guard, and Marvin Hansen, stationed at a camp in Texas. home in cmpliment to Mrs. Charles Malm, of Los Angeles, who is vis- iting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L.
