MLsd Elna. Miller, of the Extension Division of the U. S. A. C. at Logan, gave a very instructive lecture on "Are Our Children Well Fed." Mrs. Verl Anderson was special guest. The next meeting will be held November 19th at the Utah Power & Light auditorium with Mrs. R. G. Woodhead as hostess. Mrs. Ezra C. Lundahl, of Logan will give a book review. V. G. F. CLUB ENTERTAINED The V. G. F. Club was entertained Wednesday night by Mrs. D. B. Green at her home. Mrs. Melvin Hamilton reviewed the book, "Hold Autumn In Your Hand," by George Sessions Perry. Special guests were Mrs. Hamilton, Mrs. Irvin Stohl and Mrs. Wayne Sand all. MRS. RANSOM HOSTESS TO CLUB B. B. Bridge club at her home Wednesday evening. Mrs. D. W. Kirkham was special guest and prizes were won by Mrs. DeVern Wat kins. Mrs. Guy Johnson and Mrs. C. R. Steffen. BRIDGE CLUB FETED a Mr. and Mis. R. J. Laub, of Los Angeles, California, returned to their home Wednesday after visiting here and Preston for the past week. While here they were the house guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Laub Several dinner parties were given in their honor. Last Thursday evening a pheasant dinner was given at the home of Merrill lAub. with Mrs. Laub and Mrs Kenneth Cornwall as hostesses. Sunday a family dinner was served at the J. H. Laub home, with the entire family being present. It included Mr. and Mrs. Wendell MacDermaid and family of Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Burns of Garland, Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Laub, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Laub, Mr. and Mrs. Max Laub. and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Cornwall of this city, besides the host and hostfss and guests of honor. On Tuesday another party was given at Rex Laub's home, with Mrs. Walter Bums, Mrs. Max Laub and Mrs. Rex Laub as hostesses. A group of Marines from the Barracks at the U. S. A. C. at Logan, will give a very interesting program Saturday for the Ladies 'Faculty club at a special meeting to be held at 3 o'clock at the Bear River High Seminary. Special guests will be Ladies' Faculty Club members from Box Elder High School and the lady teachers from the Tremonton and Garland ORPHEUH1 Friday - Saturdaj JEAN ROGERS and LEE BOWMAN in schools. "PACIFIC RENDEZVOUS" the Tremonton Second Ward entertained the Van Guards at a. "Backwards Party" held Tuesday night at the recreation room of the Second ward. Everything was done backwards, even their clothing was worn to remind them of the occasion. Mrs. Ross Miller and Mrs. R. Z. Heppler, leaders of the group, were in charge. Keith is the second boy of the Bear River Valley to receive such an award since the Future Farmers of America were organized in 1927. The other boy, Milton Anderson, of Elwood, received the same award twelve years ago. Keith is one of the famous Anderson brothers trio, which have brought such fame and reknown to the Bear River Valley for their exhibition of Grand Champion livestock at all im portant Intermountain shows. Max and Verl, Keith's older brothers, have established themselves in the produc tion of purebred livestock, and certainly have been an inspiration to Keitn in his continued success which has made it possible for him to re ceive the highest Future Farmer award it is possible for him to ob tain the "American Farmer Degree." Keith is a very likeable young man. He has friends wherever he goes particularly at the stock shows. He was elected Mayor of "Showtown," an organization of exhibitors at the Intermountain Stock Show at North Salt Lake on two occasions, and is greeted by any or all exhibitors where ever he is met. Congratulations Keith, on this very fine achievement. Wednesday and Thursday JIMMIE LYDON and CHARLIE SMITH ia "HENRY and Mr. and Mrs. Wednesday morning, November 11, the American Legion and Auxiliary presented an Armistice Day program to the student of the Tremonton School. Mr. E. O. Stenquist announced J. Edwin Baird, guest speaker, who entertained the children with an interesting talk on Americanism. The Bear River High Glee clubs, with C. C. Watkins, directing, sang several patriotic songs which were enjoyed by all. Under the direction of Mrs. E. R, Winzeler, the Flag Ceremony was observed with the children participating in the Pledge of Allegiance. The boys' and girls' also repeated the American Creed. A loyal American spirit was exhibited by the children throughout the program. RETURN FROM ELK HUNT Cliff Kerr and Arch Richardson returned Wednesday from a successful elk hunt in the Manti section. In company with Maurice Tack of Manti, the three were successf ul in getting one elk and three deer. The deer were shot on the Fish Lake; forest, while the elk was secured on th Manti National Forest. GRANT D. ANDERSON TRANSFERRED TO PENNSYLVANIA A card received by The Leader this week advises that Elder Grant L Anderson, who has been laboring in Binghamton, N. Y., has been transferred to Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Elmer Anderson of Pasadena, Calif., and Arthur O. Johansen, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Johansen of this city has been announced. The wedding took place in Messiah Lutheran Church at Glendale, Oct 3rd. A wedding reception attended by 200 guests followed the ceremony. Mrs. Johansen, mother of the groom and Mrs, Darrel Heaton, his sister, were In California to attend the wedding. The bride is a graduate of Oc cidental College and Pasadena Junior College. She belongs to Gamma Kappa Theta. Mr. Johansen is a graduate of Bear River High School and of the Curtis Wright Technical Institute at Glendale. He is now a supervisor at Lockheed in Glendale. Johansen Enjoys Armistice Marries California Girl Day Program 21 o, Navy Recruiter To Visit Tremonton Monday the interest of obtaining men between the ages of 17 and 50 to serve in the United States Navy, the "U. S. S. Victory Recruiter" a scale model Navy ship manned by a crew of recruiters from the Salt Lake Navy Recruiting station will visit Tremonton next Monday, November 16. The model ship, mounted on a truck and trailer, is fitted out complete in every detail and contains a cabin in which men who are interested in joining the Navy may be examined and have their preliminary application papers worked up. Chief Ted Kimball will be in charge of the unit. Navy age limits are 17 to 50 years of age and all men who are interested should contact the traveling recruiting unit while it is in Tremonton.
