Cowan, FSA county su pervisor. Box Elder county is one of those selected this year by the Secretary of Agriculture for extension of the program through which landless tenants, sharecroppers, and agricultural laborers are made loans to buy their own farms. Limited funds are appropriated annually for this purpose by Congress, under the Bankhead-Jone- s Farm Tenant Act. Lending Is now in progress in Box Elder, Millard, Utah, and Sanpete counties, with the deadline for loan applications set at October 1. Farm owners who wish to list their property for sale to tenant purchase borrowers were urged by Mr. Cowan to write or meet with him at once. If not sold this year, however, property posted after the deadline may still be approved for government purchase if Congressional allotments are The Farm forthcoming in 1941-4Security Administration supervisor's office is located in the courthouse at Briftham City. Roche f - Novelty Weaves Formerly 98c - $1.49 FROM f Recently an agreement was reached between the Federal Land Bank of Berkeley and the Farm Security Administration with headquarters at San Francisco, California. This agreement was reached by these two organizations with the hope that the number of foreclosures on delinquent Federal Land Bank loans would be greatly reduced. Many farmers have become delinquent through adverse conditions or some other force beyond their control, when in reality, they are more capable of taking tare of that particular farm than anyone else. Other cases might become delinquent due to an inadequate livestock setup, or farm machinery may not be available to the farm. It is agreed by the Farm Security Administration and Federal Land Bank that where there Is a possibility of any farmer rehabilitating himself and his farm over a reasonable length of time, that the Federal Land Bank will forego foreclosure proceedings if the Farm Security Administration will assist in furnishing the needed equipment necessary to a farm outlay. Where a condition such as this exists, a farmer may secure this extension of time even to the extent of paying less than his annual payment in years of deficient crop income if he will sign an agreement to pay more than his annual assessment in years when there is an extra good crop. The entire program is based on a sound Farm and Home plan that is developed by the Farm Security Administration and farmer, and is approved by the Federal Land Bank. In no way will this agreement affect the contract that now exists between the Federal Land Bank and the farmer as to the total amount pair or the length of time his contract is to run. Whether or not a farmer will be accepted under these terms will depend to a very large extent upon the good faith that he shows in operating his business enterprise. we-ath- Knee Injury Thwarts Students Former Bear Listed Win Prizes At the In Aggie Lineup Utah State Fair B.
