King. Mr. King left for Washington, D. C. by airplane Sunday, after confer ring with State Engineer T. H. Humphreys, other state officials, and spon sors of some of the proposed small reservoir projects. He came to Salt Lake City Friday to attend the state Democratic convention held Saturday. The Senator expressed the opinion Congress would make available funds to begin construction of the small reservoirs, and would raise the $300,-00- 0 appropriation now budgeted for U. S. Bureau of Reclamation investigations of water projects to $900,000. The $900,000 reclamation fund, if passed, would permit continuation of investigations now In progress on the Bear, Lower Weber, Price, Virgin and resentatives on Interior department appropriations, for a appropriation for the small reservoir program this year, and ex- pressed hope Utah would be able to get that amount annually for the next five years to complete the most essential projects. Investigations have been made on a number of small reservoir sites in Box Elder county, and one which seems most feasible is located on the upper Bear river, near Deweyville. A 65 foot dam would have a capacity) for storing 65,000 acre feet of watei and is estimated to cost approximate ly $563,000. FSA Loans Available NOTICE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC For Small Farmer The Bureau of the Census believes that It has employed every possible means for including all persons in the 16th Decennial Census of Population which has just been taken in this community. However, In spite of all the care and effort exercised in the conducting of this tremendous task within the limited time provided by law, it is quite possible that a few persons have inadvertently been missed. If you have any reason to believe that you have not been included in this current Census, it is requested that you fill in the blank provided below and forward it immediately to the Census Supervisor named therein so that steps can be promptly taken to add your name to this very important Gov-ernment document. v M. John C. Llttlefield - . 7y Supervisor of the Census' 1 Room 275 Federal Building Utah Ogden, To the best of my knowledge and belief. And when you Inquire around yo will find half of those who are worrying about our young folks are gallivating around the country and are creating a youth problem in their own bailiwick, by neglecUng their own So far as I can see, there is no youth problem that requires anymama or papa to go up and down the country on a lecturing tour. By staying home and keeping a weather-ey- e on activities there, they would solve the whole problem. But some people like to lecture. They are the problem versus the youth. But I reckon we could improve in our schools and maybe limp along with a few less funny, modern theories there. A little overhauling at our colleges might be welcomed by our young folks who knows? But our we gotta find some older Bpavins way to keep 'em home. Yours with the low down. JO SERRA. Former Address off-sprin- g. Favorable factors affecting domestic prices of wool In the next few months will be the relatively small wool supply In this country and the strong foreign demand arising from war conditions. The prospect for a lower level of domestic mill consumption this year than last, howeveT, will be a weakening influence upon domestic prices. Ads tJ are news printed Small farmers whose plans for this year's operations are being handicapped by lack of capital, may still apply for Farm Security Administration loans, according to Glenn F. Cowan, FSA supervisor for Box Elder County. Mr. Cowan said today that applications for loans from government funds set up for the fiscal year ending June 30 should be submitted at the earliest opportunity. The county supervisor's office is located in the County Court House at Brigham City. Farm Security Administration standard rehabilitation loans may be taken out to purchase feed, seed, fertilizer, livestock and various types of farm and household equipment. Community service loans are also available to groups of farmers, enabling several men in a neighborhood to start a machinery or purebred sire service for their mutual use. To be eligible for these types of as sistance uie rarm renter or owner must be unable to get adequate operating credit from his local banks or other lending agencies. Farm Security loans must be repaid in from 1 to 5 years, with interest of 5 per cent a year. Money advanced for supplies which will be used up in a single season is usually lent for one year only. According to Mr. Cowan, his agency considers the guidance in farm and home management offered with each loan of greater importance, in actually promoting successful farming, than the money itself. This planning emphasizes crop diversification, home production of food for the family, careful budgeting, secure leasing contracts and soil building practices. Through this program, 4.266 FSA rehabilitation borrowers in Utah have increased their net worth by an average 32 per cent, over and above all debts, the supervisor said. low-inco- , flying field at of various types and designs will make the tour, and some stunting and acrobatics will take place.
