Spiers, of Ogden, who is in the Dee Hospital, where she underwent a major operation last week. Her condition at this time is reported as being not so good. Mrs. Marcel Palmer and girl friend of Logan were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Engvar Petersen last week. Mesdames Perry L. Stanfill and George L. Miller were Brigham City visitors Wednesday of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Petersen went to Brigham City to get their daughter, Marie, who has been vacationing there. On the 11th Mrs. Petersen entertained at a birthday party in her honor. D. S. pioneers. Despite recessions and depressions, members of the Covered Wagon Days committee in Salt Lake City are planning just as big, Just as ambitious and just as costly a celebration as has ever been held in the history of the city. Two great pageants of the pioneers will feature the celebration. The greatest, of course, wfll be on the "official" pioneer day, Monday, July 25, when a "parade more than five miles in length, with two score of floats, hundreds of mounted participants, twenty-fiv- e bands, and a score of other features will tell the story of the pioneers celebration committee presents a street circus, featuring the Great Ricardo in amazing, gasping and steel thrilling stunts atop a pole, which sways a dozen feet in the wind. In addition there will be six other acts presented free twice dally at the main intersection of the city. Mr. and Mrs. Horace Leonard and two children, of Salt Lake City, attended the funeral services held Tuesday for Jed Secrist. They also visited with a number of relatives and friends while here. M. H. Welling, of Salt Lake City, and Hyrum Welling, also of Salt Lake, visited in Fielding Tuesday with relatives and friends. They also visited in Plymouth with relatives. Sunday night our ward bishopric was reorganized. The entire stake presidency was in attendance, each spoke briefly on the splendid work done by the outgoing bishop and his counsellors, Bishop M. A. Garn, 1st Counsellor Wallace C. Bourne and 2nd Counsellor Ezra H. Packer. They have served faithfully for the past eight years as leaders of our ward. Each of the outgoing officers expressed his pleasure in the work they have been doing, and extended thanks to the members of the ward for their support Thee new bishop sustained was Leo Earl, 1st counsellor, Glen Severson; and 2nd counsellor. Lester Coombs, each of whom spoke briefly. Also in attendance were Mr. Brough and Mr. Burgess of Tremonton Ward, representing the Seventies, both of whom spoke. A large attendance was present to enjoy the many speakers. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh E. Gordon and Miss Catherine Taube, of Marion, Iowa, spent three days last week with Mr and Mrs. Glen M. Severson. Mrs. Gordon is a sister of "Mr. Severson. Mr. Gordon is president of the International Baby Chick Association and was completing a five week's tour of the South, West and Northwest In the interest of his association. Mr. and Mrs. Glen M. Severson spent the weekeend in Farmington. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Durfey returned home Monday night from a two week's trip to the Northwest and then down the coast, returning home via. Los Angeles, Boulder City and up through Southern Utah. They visited with relatives in different places and express having enjoyed the trip very much. Mr. and Mrs. Thayne Packer were in Logan Monday on business. Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Welling had as their guests Saturday evening, Mrs. J. A. Foster and daughters Margaret and Betty of Pocatello, Idaho and John Anderson of Fort Worth, Texas. They left Saturday night for Salt Lake, where Mrs Foster and hex daughter, Betty, left for Reno. Misa Betty Foster was being married there last Monday. Mr. Anderson and Misa Margaret Foster returned to Fielding and spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. VV". M. Welling.
