HOLMGREN, Approach of the vacation season has prompted the public safety committee of the Utah Motorist Association to offer the following safety code for children: "Good eyesight and constant alertness are necessary to avoid accidents", the code stresses. Pointing out that during the approaching vacation days children will be free of many of their usual restraints, the Association presents the following safety code: WHILE AT HOME: Play on the public playgrounds, sidewalks, or in your own yards. Cross ritreets only at intersections not in middle of block, or against traffic signals. Use roller skates in safe places only, taking them off before crossing streets. Stay close to the right side of the road or street when riding on a bicycle and give proper arm signals. WHILE ON TRIPS: Drive and ride carefully, never taking unnecessary chances of injuring yourself or others. Walk on the left side of the highway facing oncoming traffic. Do not ask strangers for rides. WHILE IN THE MOUNTAINS: Use the main trails to avoid danger of getting lost Never leave campfires until they have been buried or put out with water. Give first aid immediately to cuts or scratches. Carefully avoid touching unknown plants, because they might be poisonous. AND WHILE AT BEACHES STREAMS: Swim in safe places.
