L. Davis, who presided and Commissioners George May and G. G. Sweeten." The minutes of the special session held December 30th, 1931 were read and approved. Also the minutes of the last regular meeting which January 4th, 1932 were read and approved. A delegation consisting of Bp. A. N. Wight of Thatcher, Bp. Fred L. Peterson of Penrose, L. G. Stokes, A. W. Bergstrom and Marion T. Summers were present in the interest of the tax payers residing West of Salt Creek and others who are interested in good roads leading over Salt Creek It appears, that one of the crossings on the main highway leading over Salt Creek is in a bad state of repairs which makes it very dangerous crossing this time of the year. Two school vans cross twice daily which naturally increase the danger. Numerous accidents have happened at this point which has increased the concern of the people and has aroused them to a point where they feel that some- e dne- - The County snou' 'CiV Vi'.'ijissioners have had this un)der consideration and intend to make the necessary improvements just as soon as the weather will permit. Mrs. Arvilla W. Orme was named as Registrar of Vital Statistics for the Honeyville Precinct. The monthly reports of County Agent Robert H. Stewart and District Extension Agent Izola Jensen, were preserved, accepted and ordered filed. District State Road Engineer Lew W. Beason was present in the interest of matters pertaining to his department. Mr. Beason has the emergency State Road work on the State Road leading North to Honeyville in charge and has contributed much to make it possible for this work to continue throughout the winter months. This work has offered considerable employment which is Very much heeded and has been ery much appreciated. Deputy Sheriff Ezra Harris called in the interest of matters pertaining to his department Mr. Harris did a splendid piece of work last year in clearing up the stray dog situation. Last year was the first year to have this accomodation in the county. It was not only appreciated by the persons who were paying license but by those who were fortunate enough to come in on the work. This year, as usual, the plums are all handed to Brigham City democrats and the powers behind the throne met, no doubt, in a little group and figured that the valley democrats didn't need to know anything about it and proceeded to dish out the plums This is the old gag that has repeated so many times and from the protest eminating from prominent democrats in the valley everything is not going to be so lovely for those fellows who have been feathering their nests at the expense of their party, without the party knowing anything about it. The ballahoo for the political jobs will be on in earnest not many months hence and the lapels of the coats of the unsuspecting democrats who vote and work for party success will be pulled and they will be told all about it. Maybe they will believe "Wolf, Wolf" forever without any suspicions. Only time will tell. , Attorney General Gives Opinion, Tax Question Upholding county Treasurer Heber W. Perry's contention that he does not have to take all the bad checks and money daily which County Assessor Iri B. Ward may want to obtain a receipt for, George P. Parker, Attorney General, has rendered an opinion to the office of County Attorney Lewis Jones recently. The contention of County Assessor Ward together with County Clerk J. A. Josephson was that Mr. Parry had to receive moneys which the Assessor collected on personal propertytaxes each day, but Mr. Perry then proceeded to turn to the statutes and point out that he was required to receive that money from the Assessor only on the first Monday of each month, to which the Clerk and Assessor replied that the assessor could not get a depositary bond from. any countty.bank by reason of the small amount of money he would have on deposit and would thereby be violating the law. General concludes his opinion by suggesting that the county offers take their differences before the ! county commissioners who have supervisory powers in such matters and who would ho doubt amicably ad just the matter. , The-Attorn- ey Teddy, the little son of Mr. and Mrs. La von Stokes has been very ill with pneumonia but is recovering at this time. -- , - " - 'it rf fiforlr wna by these pests.
