One spokesman said the chances of passage on the measure were about triple-Z- . The new plan was sponsored of Agriculture by Secretary Charles F Brannan last month. However, ever since it was brought to the public notice, it seems to have attracted little support in either the senate or the house. Several of the big farm organizations have gone on record against it, including the American Farm Bureau Federation & the National Grange. It does have the endorsement of the National Farmers Union. The bill calls for a new income price support formula covering the past 10 years as a basing point. The bill would replace the old parity formula which has been the government yardstick for measuring returns farmers might receive from the federal government. The Truman administration wants the Brannan plan to replace the Aiken long range farm program which is slated to go into full effect next year.
