He began with one small green house. His son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Kerksiek, now manage Beaver Nursery. Improvements have been made and additional green houses, sale areas, and potting areas built. Mrs. Erma Kerksiek still works in the business just as she did when it began in 1956. She does most of the transplanting. Right now she is in the Cedar City Hospital and missed very much. Kersiek's Nursery wholesales plants to retail outlets in Orderville, Panguitch and Kanab. They deliver the plants they sell in these communities. The plants are raised in a mixture of sand and peat moss which has been sterilized to keep weeds, disease, and insects from growing with the new plants. HAND IRON, 150 a month started singing, "Come, Saints," and I told Dad, they had more faith and courage than any other people on earth, to do what they did. We wanted to stop - so tired that I could just barely trudge along. But the thought of that bed made me goon. After hours, it seemed, the dugway that turned to the sheepwagon was in sight. "There comes a car down it too, oh hurry Jasper, and tell them not to go back and leave us!" It was then past sundown. They had seen iis too. I was ten minutes catching up to them. They had to go see about water in a reservoir a few miles away. Stan and a Ranger from Fillmore. So we laid on the ground to rest until they returned and would take us to Minersville. O, dear me, every bone and muscle and joint, especially my hip bones, felt like they would come up to my neck, how I hurt and ached! Then lo and behold, when I tried to get up, I simply could not. Dad had to help me up and nearly lift me into the car. When we got to LoRayne's in Minersville, he also had to help me out and I could hardly, even by holding on to him, make it to the house from the street. Never, NEVER was I so all in. A hot bath for both of us, too tired to eat, and off to bed we went. When Ven and LoRayne got home, we really got the once over for doing such a thing. LoRayne felt so bad she cried. COFFEE I around my feet several times and walked for some time without my oxfords rather they were a military heel - a little high for long walks as we were now enjoying - hah I At last when we got to that camp, no one - no car, was anywhere around. Jasper found some coffee and made himself a cup. We also found a can of water and filled our jug. "Shall we stay all night here," Dad asked, "and sleep on the hard bare ground?" That didn't sound good to me. If we could make it to Stan McKnight's where we knew there was a sheep wagon and a bed, because Mitchell had told us about sleeping there - a good bed that sounded great. So like two soft kids we started off again. Rest five minutes out then out of of twenty-fivevery fifteen. Harder, ever so much harder to make yourself get up each time. I would follow the sand at the side of the road baregoot every chance I got. "Jasper," I said, "takeoff your shoes and walk in your stockings." His feet were hurting awfully too. He tried this and the poor guy could only go about two blocks. I even tried to walk .in his shoes but I just couldn't go far in them. "Isn't it just around the next turn and down aways?"
