When you live in a metropolitan area such as the one we came from crowds are an everyday part of your existence. We often forget to be thankful for solitude. To look at the mountains lying quiet in the distance, to watch a hawk floating soundlessly in the sky, to look out across town and see smoke drifting up from a chimney njay not be your definition of solitude. To me they are and 1 feel peaceful and grateful for these things. When I came to Beaver I had no idea if I would be I accepted or not. You've made me welcome and for this am grateful. Coming to a job each day where I see almost everyone in town leaves me open to inspection, censure, approval or disapproval. I've come to feel the people in Beaver are more concerned with each others general welfare than they are in censuring or judging each other. The people who come into the shop or call me to share bits of news make my job a happy one, not just because of the information I recieve but because they care enough to want to help us. I appreciate people like Craig Murdock and Ed Simco who come in just because they are friends. The smell of evergreens, the sound of a baby laughing, the sight of two puppies tornping it' the snow, the taste of food shared with people you like to be with, the feci of a dry leaf when you crunch it in your hand, all make me feel good. The ancient city of Rome was plagued by arson, graffiti and other forms of destruction.
