Show Beaver City, Beaver County, Utah, Friday, March 29, 1907. Vol. III. Utah's Greatest District In H. .SXere County "I can't tell you about the Cactus mine. No one can begin to get an idea of what it is without seeing it, iiud then he can by no means comprehend the full meaning of its wonderful sho ing lis greatness defies the ordinary means of computation. That new ore body, ixty feet wide and no one knows how long running from 15 to 26 per cent copper, has been opened on the fourth, fifth and sixth levels and the diamond dirll has gone down in it 280 feet further with no lessening of values. The ore is being shipped as it is taken down, in two carload lots, and it runs better than 15 per cent copper. Who can figure out t!ie possibilities of such an ore body, in connection with the wealth of lower grade ores which have already made the mine famous?" Frank Harris, after a visit to the Cactus "niiue, thus acknowledged the limitations of even, the experienced mining man in describing something that is beyond description. Upon one point That however, he was very positive. was that persons who own no interests in Beaver County mining propositions should lose no time getting m. Ha firmly that Utah's greatest mining district is to be cpeued up in tl, at region. It is pretty generally conceded ha said, that the vein svstem on which the Cactus mine is siinat Jd extends for a distance i t at leiiet seven or eight miles, almost due east of the Cactus while t here are other mineralized zones on every side of it with virtually the eatna posstoilities. "Such properties as the Talisman, the Cedar, the Burning Moscow, the Beaver Carbonate, the Imperial, the Frisco Contact, the Lula and others are legitimate propositions, with showings which justify their conplete development. They may not all be Cactuses, but svery one should make a, paying mine. One favorable feature is that the district is accessible at all seasons of the year; there is no trouble from snow, an unlimited supply of water is available at Milford and the railroad facilities are good. If he dislrict isn't developed into one of the greatest ie the country it will he because the people of Utah arid their Eastern friends overlook' a plain opportunity to make fortunes for themselves,' Mr, Harris and his associate, sometime prior to the sensational disclosures in the Cactus, acquired the c!d Beaver Carbonate mine, and they are.now beginning to realize that they budded better than they knew. This property was opened in 1873 as a silver-leaproposition, copper having been then despised. It produced a million between that time until lSSo, when the roduced price of the white metal led to its abandonment. The present owners have no doubt that under preeont conditions the silver lead resources are worth while, but they will give attention, us well to opening the copper ore bodies which it is known to contain. S. Li, Republican. d 1 "2 1 Andelin - Clark Easter Service Mniug Talk For some time back rumors have been rife that there is likely to be something doing in Beaver count properties during the next few weeks. The Salt Lake Tribune gives credence to the rumors and prints the following; 'Tf the present rumors are founded upon fact, it i evident that there wiil be something large in character doing generally in Beaver Countv this spring and summer. New York reports nn increased interest in this portion of mineralized Utah ever since the Newhouse property began to display the bonanza p oportior.s that new characterize it. and the question is being asked in the east if another Newhouse cannot be found somewhere in the irume ae neighborhood or even in the county. In order to lind an answer to t his question, it is stated that there are enough experts now either on the ground, or on their way to Beaver County to make or ruin a camp thesizeof Butte or Bingham. "There is one property in Beaver county that has bee-- j pursuing a very quiet campaign of envelopment work for several years. Its name is well known in local circles.but there are not a half dozen people in Utah outside of the management and official fami) who can give Hnv idea whatever of ihe resources of the group. '1 hi se re.-o-u re- -, nevertheless, are of splendid character,, so much so that two of the most powerful red metal operators are said t y be close upon its trial. 'It is stnted that F. Augustus Heinze has already made known his opinion of this particular property by the sizeof los offer for a substantial interest over and above con'rol, and it is also stated that Samuel Newhouse jut-- t before sailing for France either wired a counter offer or hbked that the deal pending" be held up until he could return and make i n In justice to the oiler for himself property its name is w ithlield, but it is instanced in eastern circles to show jiifct to what extent the powers that be in the copper mining world tire willing to gamble on Beaver county. "Ihe coming summer is expected to be one of the most interesting sparriis on the part of the b'g interests to corral properties there, and Salt Laker can well afford to wait smiliui) for the dav of res i) tit to come.'
