Progress toward the conclusion ot the local Red Cross roll call has been somewhat checked on account of activities in connection with the occurrences of the present week. This Red Croiss event of the season is a more or less flexible celebration, and the roll call schedule will continue until satisfactorily closed, and every person within the territory of Beaver chapter has been afforded the opportunity to become a member of this organization which is affectionately and justly known as the 'Greatest Mother in the World." Regular work of the chapter is going on indisturbed. Production of hospital caps has been "sped up" with the enlistment of a number ot new and renewed volunteer knitters. The allotted number of sweaters, to be made, during the National Sweater campaign, are well on the way. The knitting party last week at tnu home of Mrs. Wm. Hurst and another on Tuesday evening with Mrs. fcj. O. Puffer, furnkihed the keynote to other gatherings of similar character and devotion to the work predicts that the quantity of yarn on hand will readily develop into usable arti- Swimming Pool One of the saddest accidents in the history of Beaver, was the drowiu ing of Beulah Black, 12, last Friday afternoon in ihe swimming pool a the Beaver high school.
