Recent studies have indicated that for each dollar spent by the SBA on management assistance profits Increased by $9, jobs rose 9 percent, reinvestment in facilities rose by $25, and $1.60 more was paid in taxes. The Agency helped more disaster victims in 1971 alone than in the first 16 years of the Agency's history, combined. "Ride on," say Bicycling? more and more Utahns who have switched to the for cheap, clean and vehicle healthful transportation. Although bicycling is a now solution to some of the state's social problems, it is not without its own problems. The tremendous growth in the use of the bicycle has been accompanied by a similar increase inblking accidents, says the Insurance Information Institute. The Injury and death toll from cycling accidents is high. Two persons lost their lives and 331 were injured as a restul of 308 bicycle accidents in 1971. Five persons already have died in Utah bike accidents this year. Statistics show that in most bicycle accidents the cyclist violates a traffic law. This inattention or failure to yield the right of way accounts for the largest number of mishaps, according to rd the Institute. In less than of bike accidents, the motor vehicle driver violates a traffic rule or regulation. Rural bicycling accidents generally are more severe. Though most accidents occur on city streets, more than 50 per cent of the fatalities and a large percentage of the serious injuries occur in rural areas. Bike riders should obey all the traffic laws and familiarize themselves with safety precautions of bicycling, the Institute suggests. At the same time, the Institute encourages motorists to watch out for the bike rider. HOMECOMING ffiSKA 4 ZfflBF" M I- ROCK fmBSbLl. fca I i " fit.
