The value of real estate has increased by 12. The value of buildings and structures has remained the same. New homes and business structures only take care of the depreciation allowed on buildings. In 1960 there were 2002 motor vehicles assessed; in 1969 thhere were 2208 an increase of 10. This figure includes motor bikes. The largest increase has been dn agriculture machinery, industrial machinery, merchandise and fixtures and other personal property such as boats, trailers, campers etc. There was a 55 increase in these items. In rounded figures there are 50 campers and travel trailers and 50 mobil homes assessed in the county this year. The value of livestock has Increased 207c in ten years. This year there were 19,000 head of cattle and 30,000 head of sheep compared to and 43,000 in 1960. Horses 455 now - 407 in 1960. The overall increases of 2 is not great, however, it is much better than a decrease. Valuation notices are out from te Treasurers Office and it is suggested that taxpayers check for possible errors or overcharges. Equalization dates are June 5 and June 19 when the county Commission will hear complaints and make any adjustments determined to be ! i fk yT . JL 8 14-0- -- William P. Martin ' William Porter Martin. 75, died of natural causes May 25 at home. Born July 14, 1893 in Greenville. Beaver County to Daniel Oliver and Sarah Jane Edwards Martin. He married Wanda Easton on March 10, 1915. in Beaver. He was a member of the LDS church and a Miner. Survivors: widow, sons, Porter Carson City, Nevada: William S., Mrs. Raymond (Louise) Hutchings, Dan oil Beaver: Mrs. Rex (Nina) Marshall. Mrs. Blaine (Virginia) Miller. Boulder City, Nev.; Ralph. Culver City, Calif; Mitch Santa Barbara. Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 20 greatgrandchildren; sisters. Mrs. Jack Thiessen. Ely. Nev.: Mrs. James (Lillian) Wiliams Greenville;. Mrs. Kem-de- ll Coon. Mrs. Cora Jones, both Milford. Beaver County. Funeral services for William Bill) Martin were held Wednesday. May 28th, at 1 p.m. in the Beaver Second Ward Chapel. Prelude music was played by Mrs. Clara Carter. Bishop Paul Nielson conducted. Prayer at the mortuary was given by Keith Barton. Invocation was given by Mack Easton. Vocal solo by Nell Smith "Face to Face", accompanied by Mrs. Carter. The obituary was given by Mel Heslington who told of Bill working in the mines and farming as well hs working at other jobs. He loved the out of doors and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family. Male quartet. Jack Waters. Roy Barton. King Morris and Ralph Fordham sang. "Oh My Father " accompanied by Clara Carter. Bishop Neilon was the concluding .speaker. He alio thanked everyone for their kindness and consideration to the family and for the lovely floral offer-Iii- k and assistance given in any way. Osborn was accompanied by Carol Keslrr as he sang "The Lords Prayer", Flowers were cared for by the Relief Society with grandaught cru assisting. The benediction was given by James Williams. Mr. and Mrs. Mart Barton; Mr., Flowers were colorful snd the flags were plentiful as hundreds of people visited the Mountain View Cemetery to remember their loved ones on Memorial Day. SMITH Heart Ailment Takes Reed Smith William Reed Smith, 62 died at about 6:30 a.m. June 4,' 1969, at his home in Beaver, Utah. Born April 22, 1907 in Beaver he was the son of Seth William and Emma Josephine Robinson Smith. He married Laura E. Morris July 16, 1928 in Parowan and the marriage was solemnized in the St. George Temple February 23, 1946. He was a farmer, rancher and businessman and held the office of High Priest in the LDS Church. Survivors include his widow. Rex L., Florida; Janet (Mrs. Maurice Root) Provo, Utah; Patrick M., serving an LDS mis. sion in the Phillipine Islands. The Smihs had another daughter who died as an Infant on March 20. 1946. Funeral services are being planned for Monday, June 9 in Beaver. Dairy Princess Contest The contest to pick a Dairy Princes for Beaver County oor 1969-7will be held June 6. at B p.m. at the Beaver Second Ward Church. Swim Pool Opening The city had been working to open the swimming pool by Wednesday but on Wednesday morning it was found that some 30 windows at the pool had been broken the nighlt before and Ihese must be replaced before the pool can be opened. The annual cost of operating the swimming pool exceed income from admissions to the pool by $2500 to $3000. Such Vandalism as above adds to the discouragement of an already discouraging situation. DENNIS SACRAMENT Beaver Second Ward Sacrament and Testimony meeting was held June 1st at 12 o'clock with Kay Ashowrth of the Bishopric conducting. Prelude music was played by Lesa Grimshaw. Music was directed by Nell Smith and accompanied by Lesa. The invocation was offered by Gilbert Gale. The twin daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Hal (Gloria Murdock were blessed and named Deborah and Denise by their father, Hal Murdock. Assisting were Bishop Paul Neilson. Kay Ashworth. King Morris. Dr. Dale Murdock. Reed Murdock nnd Wes Jense. Benediction was by Albert T. Smith. Dennis Farnsworth Gets Masters Degree F. Dennis Farnsworth, Jr.. son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Dennis Farnsworth, received his Master of Arts degree from Brig-haYoung University in public (International) Administration. Dennis received his Bachelors degree from BYU in 1966, with a major in Asian Studies and a minor in English. He served an LDS Mssion in Taiwan for 3 years and while there he learned Chinese. When he returned to the BYU he received credits for his knowledge of the language. While serving with the U. S. Army he was able to take extension courses from the University of Maryland to further his language studies in Korean and Japanese He also took correspondence course from BYU at this time. While at BYU. Dennis was a member of Knights, International Students Council; Honor Council; and the Chinese Club. He was also a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honorary Fraternity, e League As of May 29th. three teams were tied for the twi-lit- e golf lead. Crook, Curriculum for Beaver County Director School District received a Doctor of Education Degree in from School Administration Brighham Young University at its annual Commencement Ser-vcof May 29. 1969. Dr. Crook received a Bachelor of Science Degree at Utah State University and a Master of Education from the University of Idaho. He has had teaching and administrative experience in Utah and Idaho prior to his admin-- , istrative assignment in Beaver County.
