ALL ACCOUNTS INSURED TO $15,000 ; CHIT CHAT BETTER HOMES CLUB BY EST A When Marie received her Beaver Press and read about Kenneth Orton being killed she was quite concerned about the number of deaths between here and Minersville. She said, "Mom, haven't there been an awful lot of them?" So we sat down and these are the ones we could remember. Jack Matthews, Leonard Paice, Randy Smith, Kenneth Orton, Dean Bowden, Frances Pearce, Jack Mc Mullin, Earl Harris, Marian Barnes, Paul Griffiths, Paul Griffiths, Jr., Ron Banks, Jimmie Farrer, Bertha Griffiths, a small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Baker, Mrs. Ben (Vera) Price, Evelyn Roberts, who was thrown from a car when a flash-floo- d swept her into the Minersville Reservoir, Mrs. Fillmore drowned in the Reservoir, a pilot, spray ing trash fish, hit the mountain and was killed. Maybe you can remember more. I think this is quite a record for deaths just between Beaver and Minersville. What's wrong? Mrs. Vilda Esplin and her mother, Mrs " Bowman, recently enjoyed a trip to Jacob Lake, where they visited relatives and spent the day seeing the many scenic attractions Mrs. Bert Smith, Mr. and Mrs Kay Ashworth, Mr. and Mrs. Rondo Farrer and Dr. and Mrs. Terry Henrie enjoyed a steak supper last week at the Little Cottonwood Canyon Mrs. Florene Smith entertained the Better Homes Club She also Tuesday evening. presented the book report that consisted of essays on self improvement and the art of meeting people. Elections were held for the coming year with Mrs. Florene Smith elected as the new presi dent, Chloe Fillmore, Secretary; Audry Erickson, Evelyn Warby as book committee. The hostess served fruit salad, nut bread and a drink for refreshments to the group. The Wednesday Luncheon Club was held at the home of Mattie Hutchings last week. After luncheon the twelve ladies played bridge. Prizes were won by Alta Hickman and Melba Gregersen. Mrs. Alta Hickman entertained Monday, August 28 at 7:30. A lovely plate lunch was served. Bridge was played and prizes were won by Mary Haney, Annabell Hales and Bernice Allgood. Park. Thursday evening the ver First Ward Primary Beaoffi- cers and teachers and their husbands enjoyed a pot luck dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Albert (Martha) Gale. It was held on their beautiful, well-kelawn. Since the road doesn't go that way now maybe you haven't gone past there but, Naomi White and Merla Nelson report that it is the nicest place they have been for some time King, Donna, Blaine and I enjoyed the weekend in Ely attending the Races and visiting King's sisters, Mrs. Lu Atkin and Mrs. Helen Paice, and family. I don't know what they would do for the Race Meets if it wasn't for the Beaver County people. The ones I saw were the Sam Johnsons, Bob Wrights, Gordon Bakers, Gregersens, E. D. Blacks, Bryce Gales, Dick Oakdens, Cullen Williamses, Karl Myers. Waldo Yardleys and Jack Williams The races were wonderful, maybe because our horseman had so many winners. Mr. and Mrs. Tony (Christine) Langforj were entertained at a family last week at the home of Mrs. Lurna Burridge Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Farrer, Mrs. Chloe Fillmore, Mr. and Mrs. Rondo Farrer and family, Mr. and Mrs. Mc Kay Farrer and family, and Mrs. Metta Thompson of Cedar City The received Langfords many nice gifts.
