He was educated in the Payson schools and graduated from Payson High School and the LDS Seminary in 1957. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the Brigham Young University in August of 1966. Mr. Gay was married in the LDS Mantl Temple in 1963 to the former Ann Marie Hurst, daughter of Vernon and Theda Jex Hurst of Spanish Fork, Utah. They are the parents of one child, David Leon, age 6 months. For the past three years he has been a member of the Spanish Fork Jaycee organization. He is a sportsman and He is loves the especially interested in hunting and fishing. He joined the United States Army Reserve under the Infantry branch in 1957 and was honorably discharged in 19G4. He returned home in November of 1955 and entered the University once more. One year later he met the girl he was to marry. Prior to his marriage he decided to leave school for one year and then to return. It was seven years and three children later that he once again enrolled at Utah State.
