Show THE BEAVER (Utah) PRESS THURSDAY, DECEMBER 9, 1965 (Shtr SEoutn By Vild "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas every where you go" so the song says and that's surely true. The store windows are taking on that certain glow we associate with the season when wreaths and tinseled trees replace articles of necessity. It's a time of frivolity and good cheer. Say what you will . . . There's some thing about the spirit of Christ mas that gets under a fellow's skin . , , whether he likes it or not. The other day I visited with a neighbor boy, Staff Sgt. Lavar Hutchings before he left to resume his duties with the Army. He said he expects to be in Germany for a year or more. He intends to do a bit of sightseeing during that time He figures before he returns home again he will have seen most of the world. As we talked I remembered the time he and Hal (about 5 and 6 then) set fire to Ross's beautifully sawed and stacked wood pile. My sister and I were painting furniture in the basement by an open window. First one boy and then the other would dash up to the outside water tap and hurriedly fill a can with water. This went on for several trips but then I got suspicious and went to investigate. That good, dry "Shantie" wood was really blazing! ! ! Luckily the hose was handy and we were able to put the fire out. We burned charred wood all winter though. The boy's equip ment had been a tomatoe can and a floor wax can. The board fence bore grim evidence to the incident until we tore it down a few years ago.
