Bessie Fordham paid the musicians and left the paper with the money. It was not so long after that until most of these gay wonderful kids were scattered around the globe, and the toll was heavy for a little town like Greenville. The older folks have all passed on to their reward. Many of their young folks have moved to other fields to make their living. The activity of earlier days has decreased, the population is less in numbers. The challenge is not so great, and many things have chang--e- d in the last few years. But Greenville is still on the map. Electricity has come to brighten their lives. There are modern and comfortable homes. The fields are still wide, clean and beautiful. The birds still sing in the Cottonwood trees. Contented cattle feed in soft green meadows. You can hear the distant quacking of ducks and wild geese, the bark of the friendly hound. The flowers still bloom by the door way and the little children still ride three-abrea- st on the old gray mare. After a nice visit with the family and friends in Beaver, Lynn Patterson returned to his home In Provo. Gwenie Patterson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floran him Patterson, accompanied home to enjoy a visit with her uncle and aunt, the Clark Patterson family. Mrs. Cullen Baker, the former Mrs. Ted Cox, and son, Bradley Cox Baker spent a week at the home of Mrs. Leo Coates, who is a sister. The ladies enjoyed making a quilt for Mrs. Baker. The Bakers returned home -- "This proposal would have been an incredible administrative burden, and the cost to the Institutions and to the taxpayers would have been far greater than estimated by the Treasury Department, offsetting the anticipated increase in revenue,'' Sen. Bennett said. He pointed out that even tax exempt organizations, such as universities, .school organizations, religious groups and other organizations which are not taxed, would have had a portion of their interest on savings accounts deducted, and would have had to file in order to get their money. IT IS TOUB DUTY A3 A CITIZEN Horse Racing . Ely, Nev. AUGUST 18 Wallace F. Bennett this week said the defeat of the administration's proposal to begin withholding a portion of all interest payments on savings accounts and dividends is "a major victory for the average American." Sen Bennett, a member of the Senate Finance Committee, helped defeat the proposal, which would have involved automatic deduction of 20 per cent of all interest paid by savings banks, credit unions and savings and loan associations; and 20 per cent of all dividends paid by corporations. If thp taxpayer did not owe this much tax, he would have had to file a special return in order to claim the refund, Senator 29c FOR 24 Bill 19 25-2- TO VOTE In order to Vote YOU MUST BE 6 PONY EXPRESS DAYS REGISTERED PARIMUTUEL BETTING Your Nejrt fcejUtratlon ELECTRIC STARTING s n August A. 21 Public Service Announcement by Utah State AFL CIO Smokey Says: v.,' (j' RtTiTI f -- ELY! wmk w7J 2Jzi rwJT El ' r I; , 0 pre-scho- ol Utah Bountiful, Get Ahead Faster at Night Learn Skills , Night school gives you a second chance to prepare the skills you have missed.
