The Beaver County Hospital is licensed and approved by the Utah State Public Health Department as a general hospital crib and four baswith an 18 bed capacity plus one sinets for newborn infants. Generally speaking, hospital patients fall into five classifications : Obstetrical, surgical, medical, communicable disease, and psychiatric. INERSYILLE ar Also during 1958 388 medical cases were treated at the Beaver County Hospital. To aid in the recovery of this type of patient the hospital maintains a stock of medicines valued at about $5000. Other facilities from which any of the above types of patients may receive benefit are oxygen and oxygen administration equipment, including oxygen hood, oxygen analyzer and eight oxyen gauges; a cast walker for the table, laryngoscope for examination of the throat, opthalmascope for examination of the eyes, otoscope for examining ears, wheel chairs, and many others. A small patio area was developed at the back of the hospital last summer for the use of ambulatory patients. t Not to be overlooked as a part of the hospital function is the hospital staff. The Beaver County Hospital staff is made up of 18 full and part time employes. These include five registered nurses, 1 practical nurse, four nurses' aids, one secretary, two receptionists, and five persons who combine the kitchen, laundry and housekeeping duties. A type of patient not usually including in the general hospital is the nursing home patient. These are patients who are not able to care for themselves at home and either have no one to care for them or would be too much of a nursing problem in a private home. Since Beaver County does not have a nursing home, the Bea ver County Hospital has for the past seven years cared for any of these patients .who required more care than could be provided in the "Old folks Homes" in this area. Under this program these patients receive any nursing care necessary a day basis, food, on a laundry and rodm at a special rate of $5.20 per day plus medicines at cost.
