It is made up of two creeks, the North Fork which heads at the foot of Mt. Baldy, and South Fork, which heads at the foot of Mt. Belnap. Some of the early settlers on North Creek were George A. Smith, Amasa Lyman, Dr. John Christian, Jessie Baldwin, "Scotty" Boyter, John and Charles Merchant, Oren and Ephraim O. Puffer, Hannah Gale, Layfayette Shepherd, Henry C. Gale. The Merchants came from Australia about 1862. Agriculture was the main occupation of this Valley, along with a sawmill, a shingle mill, also mining. The first school at North Creek was build about 1893. Nearly 30 students were in attendance. Edward Tolton was the first teacher, then James McGarry. This building still stands. Some of the later school teachers were Winnifred Smith and Delia Jones. The last school biulding is now standing near the center of the settlement. J. G.McQuarrie was trustee in charge of its construc tion, and William Carlow did the carpenter 'work. Many good times liavelbeen had in this old building, iboth for young and old. The old stove still stands forlornly in the middle of the floor. SEAT NEWSPAPER PUBLI.SHKO IN AND FOR liEAYEK I I I V AND EASTERN IJEAVEK CO U NTT BEAVER'S CENTENNIAL YEAR DO YOU REMEMBER?
