"Success of the program last year has been due to a large extent o cooperation of volunteer work ers at Uie state and local levels, o the aid of advertising media, o the free service by the banks in the sale and issuance of bonds, and the adoption and continued operation of the payroll savings plan by a large number of employ ers. This year the number of requests going out nation-wid- e will approximate three milion. with over 98 going to Beaver County businessmen. "There are five more business concerns in Beaver today than there were four years ago," says D. E. Smith, district manager of the Salt Lake City office of Dun & Bradstreet. Basing his facts upon the figures In the current January, 1956 Reference Book. Smith points out that In 1983 58 businesses were listed by Dun & Bradul reet, today there are 63 enterprises an increase of nine per cent. The Reference Book, lists only manufacturers, whole salers, retailers, and some servk" companies, such as laundries and gasoline service stations. In dlcusslng these figures, Smith pointed out that more than 95 per cent of all commercial transactions in the U. S. are made on credP terms. The purpose of credit reports and the huge Reference Book Is to assist businessmen In arriving at credit decisions on customer order. A supplier anywhere In the U. R. can look up the rating of the Beaver County businessman in the Refereunce Book.
