"If there 13 one thing more than any other that retards Children and takes away their interest in school it is irregularity in attendance. Whenever a child loses a day of sohool he loses not only his lessons for that day but he loses a serie of impressions that ought to have been knitted into his school aet of ideas. Take the lessons of the school out of their place of first importance and you put another set of impressions ,in their place, and destroy the work of the school. One does mot wish to send a sick child! to school. But one should wislh to send a well child to school day after day with clock- like regularity and nothing but serious illness should interfere with his going. Broken attendance is wasteful, It steals time that the children can never restore, for a child's learning- time is brief. The high tide of curiosity and interest in each bit of knowledge or experience comes but once, when it recedes, problem disciplin measures must take its place. Sending the children to sohool as regularly and as rythmically as possible is one of the greatest contributions that the home can make to the school, and the sohool i3 for our children". The following named boys and girls have ihad a perfect attendance record, never having missed one day of sohool this year.
