CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR "NEW DEAL" FRIENDS Election is over and you have won the most emphatic victory ever given to any party or president in the history of the nation. You have worked long and hard and that is a deciding element in almost all contests. We also wish to congratulate Governor Blood on his victory also we congratulate the State of Utah on escaping the necessity of having the "bucking bronco" rider as its governor. Dick Nelson of Milford, elected to succeed himself as County Commissioned received a tremendous vote as a result of his efforts for election. He will serve the county well and faithfully. Abe Murdock is returned to Congress by his accustomed majority. Theodore Bonn's service in the office of County Attorney is approved by a large majority of the voters of the county. Frank Low and A. R. Hamilton for the state legislature had the only close race in the county and as it was a democratic land slide Low won out. Sim Murdock will hold down the four year commioners job. All of the Constitutional Amendments were voted down in this county by overwhelming majorities. Well ! The election is over and wre are glad of it. It became very tiresome for both, sides along at the last. Now we are all good Americans and hope the tide of prosperity now on its way will continue to flow with more force and envelope the entire country. Let us hear less and less about special movements in favor of special classes. Less about benefits for aged, the labor movements, the special benefits for the farmers, the Legionaires, the V. F. Ws., the educators, the youth movements, the capitalists. Lets each of us not try and get something special some favor from the government at the expense of someone else BUT It us all become good, true Americans and work for the benefit of the whole nation. 0 VOTERS, VOTE FOR SELF INTEREST AS THEY SEE IT Every campaign year revives the old debate as to whether candidates or issues count for more in the mind of the average voter. One side holds that Presidential majorities are swung by personality ; the other that principles decide. As a matter of fact, thev are both wrong. The average voter votes for himself ; that is, he votes for that candidate or that set of personified principles which, in action, he believes will best serve his own in office to be filled or the principles involved do not directly concern him and his affairs he may vote for a pleasing personality or an abstract theory; in a contest where his own pocketbook is involved he will vote for that pocketbook. It may sound cynical; actually it is hard horse sense of the kind which has made the average American income, wage, savings and living standards the highest in the world. It has made the United States the most successful democracy in history and almost the only one. If its principle of sound and enlightened is maintained, it will keep it so ; otherwise no one knows what we may become. terests. Where the self-intere- here with relatives.
