James Thomas Sharkey, 32, a milkman in Boston, was awarded first prize ot $25,000; Mrs. Walter Sweet, mother of three children and wife of a Marine Corps captain stationed at the Brooklyn (NT. Y.) Navy Yard, won second prize of $10,000, and Julius M. Nolte, real estate dealer, and former secretary ot the Duluth Commercial Club, received the third prize of $5,000. In addition, five prizes of $1,000 each, five prizes of $500 each and twenty-fivprizes of $100 each were awarded. The three fortunate prize winners will go to Winston-Salem- , N. C, where Camel cigarettes are manufactured, to receive their checks. Audrey Heslington and Delia Johnson were among the seminary graduates who went on the excursion to the St. George Temple and Zion's canyon Mrs. Eva Evans accompanied by her Mrs. Williams, motored to Beaver Sunday returning with Mrs. Dorothy Williams. Milford won its first ball game of the season last Sunday when it defeated Cedar at Cedar 12-- 7 in a tight game that was anybody's until the nineth inning. This Sunday Milford will meet Beaver on the home field, the first home game of the season. Manager Pratt Root has indicated that he will start LawTence Easton, a new man with a brilliant basket ball record, pitcher in Sunday's game and give him an opportunity of getting a work out under fire. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Padjan of Hollywood, Calif., were here Monday to Wah Wah Springs. P. J. Conway now of Salt Lake but a former resident of Milford is here for a short stay. Lew Mar Price of Beaver visited Milford the past week. F. D. Williams of Minersville made several trips .to Milford recently to visit his wife who is in the hospital. W Bowman made a trip to Salt Lake City Monday for medical treat ment. Theodore Kronholm, deputy sheriff and city water master, left Saturday for Salt Lake City to visit with his brother, Vic Anderson until Tuesday when he attended the Grand Lodge I. O. O. F. convention as a delegate at Provo. He will probably return to day. Mrs. Tom Martin is confined to her home by illness this week. Dr. Charles Parrish left Saturday for Salt Lake City where he will meet his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Parrish who will accompany him to New York. There, his sister Vergie Parrish will join the party for a trip to Cuba and Florida. Word has been received that Al Joest who has been ill at the Fitszim-mon- s hospital in Denver for the past two months is gradually improving. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Hughes motore I to Salt Lake City Saturday for a several days' visit. The marriage of Verna Bird to Robert Tomsik was solemnized Monday at midnight at the home of the bride's parents, Bishop and Mrs. E..H. Bird, Bishop Bird reading the ceremony. L. A. Tomsik, father of the groom and Helen Bird, sister of the bride witnessed the ceremony which was attended only by the immediate family of the young couple. The bride wore pink chigon and carried a bouquet of snap dragons and carnations. On the day following the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Tomsik left for a bridal trip to Zion. last week. . The dance held here Monday night was a great success. People of Milford, Minersville, Beaver and Greenville were in attendance. Lena Griffiths celebrated her birthday Sunday night by inviting a group of young folks to her home. The evening was spent playing games. A luncheon was served to 14 friends. Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Hodges of Beaver are rejoicing over the arrival of a little son born here Monday morning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Littlefield, all concerned doing nicely. Lawrence Limb and two friends of Santa Quin were visitors here last week. Loyal Baldwin and Jasper Puffer are at Frisco for a few days on business. Mrs. Henry Larsen and son LaVar were visiting friends in Milford Saturday. Harry Kirk and Dick Bowman of Beaver called at the home of Wilford Larsen the later part of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Thady Boldwin and little daughter also Adrin Baldwin of Manderfield were visitors here Satur day. Authnell Carter of Minersville is visiting at the home of Elmer John son. David Heslington and wife also Melbourne Heslington, wife and little daughter are visiting at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Heslington. Sacrament meeting held here May 17 was well attended. After class work a talk was given by Bro. David Heslington which was very interest ing and instructive.
