Duties: The Aircraft Operations Division of the Aircraft Directorate has introduced a program to identify and develop high potential employees for future leadership positions in LAO. Candidates selected from basewide competition will receive intensive leadership training, and upon completion will be placed in a cadre from which future supervisory positions will be filled. Future WS-1positions in the 8852 and 3806 series will be filled from the cadre. There are three steps in the selection process. First, applications will be ranked based on their standing on a current profile, as has been done in the past Second, the top candidates will be based on the results of a panel interview. Finally, the best candidates coming out of the interview will receive 40 hours of traind skills where ing on leadership and problem-solvin- g their performance will be rated. The training teaches interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, motivations, leadership, etc. Candidates who successfully pass the training will be eligible for WS-1supervisory positions, as they become available. This is a mandatory course for those personnel desiring advancement to WS first level supervisory positions in LAO. However, completion of the course does not necessarily guarantee promotion.
