Show cultural attitudes. They have begun by studying poetry thru reading good poetry, writing and memorizing their favorite poems for class recital. Next in this study was the reading and discussing of such stories as "The Man Without a Country," and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." The pupils especially enjoyed "The Man Without a Country." This was fallowed by original writings, picturing themselves as some character in the story. Included in this work, students memorized a dramatic, patriotic passage from "The Man Without a Country." These activities have really helped the classes to awaken their cultural curiosity. Cut . . . Stitch . . . For being a small school compared to the big ones upstate, we made a rather good showing. In the shotput Albert Lorey; placed third with a throw of 48 feet. The two 880 relay teams both placed, division one, fifth and division two second. Also Willie Ellington placed second in the 100 yard dash. You can see we did very well.
