Show 1 CONCRETE WORK SCHOOL AT PRICE A quality concrete construction school will be held Wednesday, Fob. 8 in the little court room of the courthouse, Price, begin-Din- g at 10 am., according to R. L. Hassell, county agent. It will toe an all-d- ay school. It will be sponsored by the Price River Watershed Soil Conservation District, the Carbon County Extension Sevice, the AI3C Committee and the Soil Con nervation Service.' Conserving of irrigation water is the prime reason for holding the school. .Specialists fom the Portland Cement Company, Walt Oram and Chris Pickett, will be here to give instruction. Special emiphasis will be placed on ditch lining and irrigation structures in the interest of conserving water. There will also be instruction on 'all farm structures which can be built economically with concrete. The .people of Carbon and Emery counuties interested in this work are invited to attend the meeting. For many years ditch lining has been considered in his area, since it has been proven that ditches lose water through seepage, erosion and plants growing in the ditch and along the banks. It wasn't until I960, however, that it was tried in Carbon county. About five miles of ditch lining was placed in the county. It has been known for a long time that a great deal of water is lost. For example, the Allen ditch which is 1,12 miles long is 10 to 15 feet deep in places where erosion has taken place. The water running over the shale seeps into the shale layers and is lost to the farmers. Lyle Bryner, local ASC man pointed out that in the portion of the Allen ditch which was lined last fall, it used to take about two hours for the water to run this L12 miles. Now that it is lined with cement it takes abouf 20 minutes. un-lin- ed Complete Stocks of STEREO AND Priced $JjJ.95 and up Hear Musical Rerodnction is Best COED SFOPPE CARL'S LaSalle Hotel Bldg. Instead, baby your budget, which has been badly depleted by Christmas, and use some of the old standard remedies you already have in the house. There's aspirin, for example, which relieves the aches and reduces fever. There's soda bicarbonate (baking soda) which you take as a chaser if aspirin doesn't agree with you. You take the soda, too, a half teaspoon of it in a glass of water with the juice of a fresh lemon, for general cold relief.
