At age 14, said Junior may purchase a game bird license. Until age 16, he may then hunt under the supervision of someone age 21 or older, for any game bird during the legally opened season. At ages 14 and 15, said junior need not have a Federal stamp on his State bird license to hunt ducks or geese. At age 16, a junior may pur- chase any type state license. If he purchases a bird or combination hunting and fishing license, he may then bunt migratory waterfowl. Especially serious is the killing of elk during the present deer season in several areas where both the d ere? and elk are to be' found. Deer hunters are again urged to know their target before they shoot. There is no reasonable excuse for the shooting of elk as deer. Any sportsman hunt-- 1 ing in an area where both are to be found should be doubly cautious as to what he fires upon. This bill would not, however, require any higher contributions from the railroad companies or the workers to finance the increased benefits. On Monday the Senate passed a bill which would not only give higher benefits, but would also cost the railroads about $50 jiil-lio- n a year more to finance the program. The House and Senate versions must now be compromised in a House-Senatconfer ence. At present railroads and workers each pay a 6 tax on wages up to 1300 a month. Under present law this will go up to 614 next January 1. The Senate bill wculd go even further and raise the tax base from $300 to $350 a month.
