We learned that some birds fly south for winter but some birds stay here. We are go-nto feed the birds that stay here next winter. Another thing we learned about hirds is that father birds are brighter colored than mother birds. Mother "birds are colored like the green leaves or brown branch, es of the trees where they sit on their nests. This is so the cats, hawks and crows can't see them so well. There is a funny thing about Mother Woodpecker, though. Her color Is about the same as Father Woodpecker's. Her nest is in a hole In a tree out of sight! Monday, May 7: Today we had a nice surprise.
