A: ' l Believing that by their actions they will reduce juvenile delinquency in the Carbon county by removing cause, mayors of both Price and Helper, chiefs of police of both cities, and the county sheriff met late last week and passed strict, uniform laws applying to all establishments selling er in both cities. These shall go into effect on March 1. Attempts to do this same thing in the past have failed because of the impossibility of county law officers checking constantly in all the communities of Carbon county. But it is believed it will suceced this time because in the past few years most of the cabarets, taverns and other places which dispense beer at late hours have become concentrated in either of the two larger communities of the county. Substance of the new rules are: All places of business selling beer must cease the sale thereof on all week days at 1 a.m., one hour longer on Saturdays, holidays and days preceding holidays. These hours shall also apply to the use of intoxicating beverages in any taverns, ca berets restaurants. The manageor ment shall be responsible for any riolation whether the offenders furnish their awn beer or alcohol or whether beer is sold to them by the management. The new ruling further provides that all places oi business not pospermits must sessing special of at the tbeir business places cloe hours above set forth. Others must cease playing phonographs or games and refrain frim dancing, besides complying with the ruling made on beer. One of the most programs to be presented for the entertainment of Helper citizens will be given free of charge and i it h euryone welcome at the Helper ward L.D.S. chapel next Sunday evening, March 3, when the- Carbon stake choir under the direction of E. M. Williams, performs. The group comprises voices from wards throughout the county. Although Mr Williams, stake chorister, is in charge, choir leaders of some of the wards will participate in the directing, and some of the best voices of the county will be heard. Directors will be Mr. Williams, Far- ris Edgley, John Harmon, Lynn Over-ladand James Anderson. Mrs. E. M. Williams and Mrs. John Harmon are the pianists. Besides the musical program, speakers have bocn arranged, according to Mr. Overlade ,who is in charge of these monthly musical programs at the Helper ward. The program was announced by Mr. Williams this week as follows: Three selections sung by the chor the liid i) Jerusalem." "Turn Thy Face From Thy Sins," Lift Up Your Head-.- " Solo sung by Dr. Bliss L. Finlayson. 'The lxml's Prayer." Two more selections, "Ami the Glory ol' the Lord" by Handel, and "O Divine Redeemer." by Gounod, followed by a girl's trio composed of Fae Roberts, Winifred Johnson, and Leoiia Shumway singing "Prayer Perfect." Solo "Tommy Lad." sung by Mr. Edglev. Four more songs by the choir and a rendition by a quartet of male voices will conclude the program. The final pieces to be presented by the choir are "Come Unto Vhrist," "I Waited For the Lord", "Jesus. Priceless Treasure," and "Come, Come Ye Saints." The second and third named are by and Bach respectively. The male quartet, which will sing "Invictus" and "O Home Beloved," is comprised of Murray Mathis, Ed. Hansen, John Harmon and LeGrand Mathis. e A will dramatic, almost cyrieal aspect enter the lives of several s through the med in in of a new !y organized club, the ery name of which suggests a pes simistic note-- - The Last Squad club.
