Thanksgiving Day, now faded into history for another year, our thoughts and activities (will naturally turn too. perhaps the most (publicised season of the year, Christinas and the holidays. In some of our minds Ithere will gradually creep thoughts of how we can make this, the 1938 Christmas season, the most joyous, most eventful and most lucrative season in Helper for years and years. It is not the purpose of this editorial to solve all, or even one of these thoughts or what Could be. However, it might lend a suggestion to our city merchants, who unfortunately are without an active chamber of commerce or retail group, who usually solve our merchandising troubles, and take the initiative in promoting such things good-wil- l campaigns that are found in practically every city, some with a much smaller population than Helper, in every state in the union. Two years ago our local merchants got together, organized a Retail Merchants association, and realy went to town during the holiday season. It was fun for those who did the work; it brought plenty of extra dollars into the cash registers; and gave the us something to really talk about. Last year for country round-aibosome reason or other it was apparently either not considered Important or we just didn't get .together, and as a result the Yuletide Season just came without any pomp or ceremony, another season tiait must come and then go, and a few who sorely missed- an opportunity to gain something or other were utterly amazed. It lsnlt because Helper doesn't posess an array of intellectual and versatile businessmen and women, because if "we stop to compare them with other communities, we will find them von an average with the best. Can't something be done (this year? There is still plenty of time to take advantage of the opportunity that is awaiting us. Let's band our resourceful energy together and make the approaching Christmas season one that will long be remembered in Helper, Carbon county and the entire nation. Remember: "WHAT HELPS BUSINESS, HELPS YOU," and "WHAT HELPS YOU, HELPS HELPER TO BECOME THAT KIND OF A COMMUNITY THAT IS A PRIDE AND JOY TO ALL WHO LIVE AND COME HERE." ...stapling machines for sale at The Journal Office.
