Dividend 3. ttagna-GarfielGemniel Club 6, Carbon 1. d After playing brilliant ball during the three opening games Carbon's defense cracked Saturday on the Helper field and Provo pounded out an 8 to 2 victory over the locals. Six costly errors at crucial moments paved the way for four of Provo's runs, two others coming after the side might have been retired. Even though there were errors and Provo won the game, there were bright spots in the contest. Maulsby, Bowielded their sone, and Tabone powerful bats to garner two hits each and Tony Krissman turned In a sparkling game at second base. Marchetti pitched steady ball for nearly seven innings, giving way to Hardin In the latter part of the 7th. Bliss Hoover, Millett and Page, had a big day with the bat for Provo. Hoover also played brilliant ball at second base. After holding Provo scoreless in the first frame the locals went to work in their half of the initial inning w hen Maulsby singled and was advanced by Tabone who sacrificed; s Myers filed out to Gardner and singled scoring Maulsby. Sluga ended the inning by driving a long fly to Gardner in center field. Provo scored four runs in the second on two successive singles, an error, a triple and a fielder's choice. Carbon's other score came in the fifth. Krissman and Bosone singled, Allison struck out and Marchetti singled scoring Krissman. SUNDAY'S GAME A PITCHING DUEL BETWEEN OLIVER - TATE Elmer Tate, local speed-bal- l king, and Sammy Oliver, clever curve-bal- l artist from Gemmell hooked up in a pitchers' duel that lasted nine innings. There was Just one difference in the status of the pitchers, Gemchance mell club handled every without error and Carbon made four errors when they meant runs for their opponents. Oliver held the locals scoreless and hitless except for the second inning.
