In the last two years, there hav been three major movements back of which the editorial policy of the Journal has always stood solid: Namely, to build a junior high riuool, to build a civic auditorium and to construct an underpass on Janet street or some othei section of the railroad tracks suitable. These thtee projects have been foremost In the publication, all details and contentions for sam.i having been reiterated consistently in the columns of the paper. We now have a junior high school Uiat will be completed and ready for school this fall. The other two projects are now pending Janet underpass Is a certainty and the state will advertise for bid3 on this project soon. The lattsst and newest project adopted by the Journal as a pro ject behind which the energies and efforts of the paper will be con tlnually directed Is the promotion of a senior high school for the city of Helper and the students living in this vicinity. In looking over the various towns of the state of Utah and many "other states in the west, rare if at all possible it be to find a city with the population cf Helper that is not served by a senior high school. The old argument in Carbon county has been that we should transport the student to Price where one standard, efficient senior high school should be maintained. So far, the county has had nothing but a conjoeted, miserable set of buildings for a senior high school for too inadequate to serve the students and far lacking the enrollment that a county having approximately 18,000 residents should have in attendance at high school. Mrs. Bernice Turner, Mrs. Laura GMligan, Mrs Margaret Kay and Mr. Orson Turner motored to Price Friday evening to attend the Stake M.I.A. Outing.
