EVENT PROMISES TO BE UNIQUE Local Contingent Giicn Superior Rating and IndiviJmil Honors High honors were again accorded the Helper Central scool band at the Western Colorado Music tournament held last week at Grand Junction. The band made the Grand Junction trip by rail, leaving here Thursday evening. Honors were won in parade and concert work. According to Dean C. G. Houston of the Grand Junction junior college, the ratings d schewere given on a dule: Superior, excellent, good, average, and below average. Not one of the Helper band members was rated below excellent. In the parade contest, the locals received an excellent rating along with competition from some of the most outstanding schools in Colorado. The Helper aggregation was rated as superior in class B of the concert division. It was highest in this contest and great credit is due the director, Floyd Fletcher. Many long months of continuous practice and effort have resulted in success, and the. citizens of Helper are justly proud of the achievements of the band under the present director. Carbon high school band was graded as superior in Class A, and la was one of two, Montrose being the other band organization to receive this grade. Three Carbon county drum majors were given the highest rating in this contest, they were Statdey Litlzetti, Notre Dame, Walker Helper, and Jack Jones of Carbon high.
