"" And it might interest many here in America to know that fleet was comprised of the finest seaplanes in the world and manned by the world's finest aviators. It may sound just a little unpatriotic, but many of our nation's foremost authorities admit the United States is any thing but a leader in the field of aviation. We could even learn from Italo Balboa and his intrepid fliers. ALL ; i Our fish editor is going to have to be more careful. Last week, one of Joe Fisher's good friends (not mentioning any names but he owns an exclusive men's haberdashery in Helper), reporting for him on the Kiwanis fishing debacle, stated Fisher's record was a plain zero. Now comes Mr. Fisher promptly denying such an untruthful exaggeration, and claiming he caught three fish, two of which were put back into the stream and the third brought into camp as prima facie THE PUBLIC LIKES TO BE FOOLED evidence. This latter course, too, would take him across the line of latitude. Post visited several countries in his " flight, but it will be noticed these countries all were along the northern edge of civilization. It wasn't a flight along the line of the equator or any similar 25,000 mile jaunt. J 1 "globe-encircling- TENNIS 4 TOURNAMENTS Mont Cowley defeated W. H. Gallaher was standing on the running board of a car driven by Barbara Cushman of Tooele with with several other occupants, when the machine collided with another automobile driven by Douglas Folheringham of Price, approaching from the opposite direction. Gollaher received a broken neck and leg, and sustaned a concussion of the brain, and a report by Sherrif S. M. Bliss indicates the machine on which the injured man was riding was about three feet over on the wrong side of the road. Funeral services were conducted from the Tooele North L. D. Hence many desirable applicants were turned away from the navy recruiting stations at Salt Lake City, Ogden, Boise, Butte, Great Falls and Billings. Due to the necessity for economy, many of the navy recruiting east of the Mississippi river have been closed, and only the San Diego, Calif., naval training station has been retained in full commission. Because of their relative nearness to the San Diego training station, with resultant decrease of transportation costs, the monthly quota of apprentice seamen authorized to be enlisted from Utah, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming has been increased to 42 for each the months of August, September and October. It is expected this quota will be still further increased begining in November, according to word received recent ly from the navy department by the navy's district recruiting head quarters at Salt Lake City. This is good news for those young men in the intermountain district who desire to enroll in the navy. In order to better this territory, it is contemplated that additional will navy recruiting be established in the near future at Logan, Idaho Falls and Twin Falls, Missoula and Miles City, Mont, and Sheridan, Wyo. sub-statio- sub-statio- BUY AT HOME Inez Regrutto returned Saturday from a weeks visit with relatives and friends In the state capital.
