While the game started fast and clean, the last quarter saw the boys roughing it in pretty good style in an effort to secure the lead. Domnic Greco's shootirg kept the Helper boya in the lead most of the first half, until he was 'forced out of the game thru injury. Christensen) Q. Last week you answered several questions concerning the need for immediate aid in meeting the present unemployment situation. What organization is there in the county to raise funds and administer aid? A. We have what is known as the contact committee. This is composed of Walter Knox, chalr-nia- n of the county commission; Frank Porter, mayor of Helper, and Holla West, mayor of Price. This committee has general supervisory control over the entire relief organization. Q. Are there other parts to the organization? A. yea, indeed. Three men could not possibly handle the exso isting situation: they have called several committees to assist them. The finance committee, for example, is expected to raise funds for emergency relief work. The emergency relief committee contacts those applying for assistance and if iuvestigation discloses a real need, this committee is au thorized to extend relief. The employment committee. made up of members of the county commission and city governments, is expected to provide employment as far as public funds will permit. This committee will really begin to function as soon as the weather will permit work on roads and ahowed superior ability in team play and passing, with Clark and Bowen starring for the visitors. The announcement was made by Superintendent R. J. Taylor aud seems to indicate that this procedure is due to the heavy taxation which has been Imposed. The Peerless Coal company has expended approximately il.uu0.0uu in the development of this mine and while it has been understood for some time that it was to close down, it was not thought to be of a permanent nature, as some work has recently been done. It has been considered one of the modern mines of this district. Old Peerless mine in Spring Canyon was shut down some time ago because of having been worked out. This mine is located on two of the largest coal seams in the west, one 25 feet in thickness and the other 18 feet. Mr. Turner stated that all equipmeut and machinery was being removed from the mine and would be sold. o o o ROAD TO CONSUMERS SNOWBOUND JI0NDAY PLAN SUMMER WORK FOR JOBLESS MEN u If a problem which is being worked out by the Price chamber of comnu-rcmaterializes, miners out of work iu Carbon county will be given plots of ground upon which may make them partially e According to County P.
