Some 100 children are expected to attend. Entertainment will include mo· bon picture cartoon carnival as well as other features. The Sandy Lions have sponsored a community Christmas tree pru·ty for the children for many years. and their outstanding efforts are much enjoyed by the youngsters. Harry Setterberg is president of the club, and A LeMar Hendrickson is chairman o( this year's Christmas party. All the young folks or the community are urged to attend the affair. A Christmas program was pl·esented as a feature of Mt Jordan stake leadership meeting Monday evening at Draper. with Stanley A Rasmussen, president, in charge. J William Thompson of Sandy, s.tpedntendent of Mt Jordan stake Sunday school, was chairman of the program which included musical reading, Nan Smith and Dor~ othy Parkin; violin selections, Jack Loutensock, of Hunter, accompanied by Miss Phyllis Nielsen also of Hunter; accordian selec· tions, Lynn Nunley of Holladayi Organ and piano duet. Mrs \Vilma Day and daughter, Miss Marilyn Day; character readings, Miss Kethey Cooper of Hunter; vocal selections, Draper 1\Ielodettes. SAN DY SECOND WARD GROUPS HOLD SOCIAL MISS IONARY RETURNS F._ROM NORWA Y FIEL D M-Mon and Gleaner Girls of San· dy Second ward entertained at a £OCial Tuesday evening honoring the three of their groups who are expected to leave soon for the mis· ~ion fields-Burt Cundick, James Anderson and Sterling Hill. Each of the honored guests was presented with a book. Those in charge included Richard Webb, Mrs Dorohty Swenson and Miss Nelda Smith. Games were enjoyed and refreshments served. Elder Harold Sorenson Jr. re· turned recently from a two year mission to the Not·wegion LDS mission field. He is the husband oi the former Miss Cleo Bolliger of Sandy, and son of Mr & Mrs Harold Sorenson of Holladay. Mr & Mrs Sorenson and son, Robert, and Mrs Cleo Sorenson had set out for New York in Novem· ber to meet the returning missionary, but were unable to reach the city due to snow storms and im· passable roads. Mr & Mrs George F Jackson and family o( Ogden were guests of his mother, Mrs Rhoda Jackson Sunday. J t Jackson and Mrs Susie Sweeney also visited with Mrs Rhoda Jackson Sunday. A Christmas cantata will be pre· sented at Sandy Second ward sac· rament services Sunday, Dec. 24, at 7 p m. It "ill be directed by Jay Pond. Personal Mr & Mrs Andrew J Jones en· tertained at a family Christmas dinner honoring theii· .son, Glen Otteson who left Tuesday for ser· vice in the navy. Besides the guest of honor, covers were laid for Mr & Mrs Royce Flandro and daughter of Salt Lake, and Mr & Mrs C L Jones of Salt Lake, and Mr & Mrs Andrew J Jones and the Misses Ardell and Carol Jones of Sandy. Bobby Barney, son of Mr & Mrs Arden Barney; Glen Otteson, son of Mr & Mrs Andrew J Jones) and Glen Campbell, son of Mr & Mrs Harold M Campbell left Tuesday for San Diego, Calif., where they will receive boot camp training, following their enlistment in the navy. The radio skit, "The ChameJion Angel," was presented Tuesday evening at a special Christmas program of Sandy First ward MIA, with Mrs Frances Kunz as director. The Christmas play, u\Vhy the Chimes Rang, ·• was presented by the First ward Bee-hive girls with Mrs Helen Jones as class leader in charge.
