UTAH Friday, Nov. 24, 1944 Page Five Soil District Operates Heavy Equipment A large caterpillar, D-7 tractor and an 8-yard carryall are now being used to level land for the West Salt Lake Soil Conservation district, according to E 0 Brothers, equipment supervisor. "Realizing the benefits derived from leveled fields, farmers have made numerous requests for this type of work. We are now trying to assist the farmer to accomplish this job. In accordance with our agreement with the Soil Conservation Service, farmers cooperating with the district in a program of soil and moisture conservation, receive first priority on use of the equipment and in addition, engi- M I A ANNIVERSARY .TO BE OBSERVED The West Jordan Y W MIA are giving 2 special programs commemorating the 75th anniversary of the organization. U S MARINE VISITS HERE AFTER 27 MONTHS SERVICE Pfc Lawrence M Maynes of the marine corps, serving in the light anti-ajrcraft group, in the South Pacific, is home on his first furlough in 27 months. Pfc Maynes is the son ol Mrs Lauretta Maynes of Cottonwood Heights. Recently he an<t his mother visited his brother, T-Sgt William Maynes in the marines, who was in Salt Lake City, enroute to Ohio, for training.
