Chaplain Joseph A Devlin officiated at the early morning ceremony. Lt Davis, a bombardier, recent- ly returned from the Mediterranof operations. His bride, a cadet nurse, trained at St Marks nurse's home in Salt Lake City. The couple, after a short wedding trip, wil1 make their home in Galveston, Texas. MISS BETTY STROM WEDS RULON F BAMBROUGH Mr & Mrs George W Strom an- nounce the mardage of daughter, Betty, to Rulon F Bambrough, son of Mr & Mrs 0 J Bambrough, Ogden. The young couple were married in Norfolk, Virginia, Saturday, Oct 21. The bridegroom is stationed at the naval base in Norfolk, and Mrs Bambrough will remain there with her husband until he leaves for overseas duty. on "Utah Governors." The history of Alexander Dahl Sr, who was the father of David T Dahl, was read by the historian, Mrs Eva Turpin. Refreshments were served by the hostesses. M r & Mrs Reno Ficklin and children, formerly of New Orleans, La, but now of Salt Lake City, and Mr & Mrs Howard Barben of West Jordan visited with Mr & Mrs Willard Turpin Sunday. Mrs Royal Spratling attended a shower given in honor of Miss Tessie Wagstaff at the Wagstaff ho\ne in Salt Lake City Wednesday. Miss Wagstaff is to become Mrs John Parker of Salt Lake in the near future. Mrs Ernest Anderson entertained at a birthday party Saturday for her 2 sons, Velle, who was 5 years old and Seth, 2 years. Children's games and refresments were enjoyed by 14 children. The first year junior MIA girls entertained for the teachers, Beth Schorr and Ida Densley, the M I A presidency and the new members of their group at an initiation 'party at th e ward recreation haD Friday evening. It was a comiccostume affair and prizes for the best costumes were won by Evelyn Spratling and Geraldine Bruno. After the games refreshments were served 40 guests. Mrs Ada Hogan Fansler is in the Bingham hospital receiving treatment. Glen Hogan and son, Max, enjoyed tteir deer hunt very much as they each came home with a deer. E M Bateman, Keith Bateman, Al Malstrom, Elmer Malstrom, L D Richardson, Solon Richardson, Paul Christensen, Mr & Mrs James Steadman, Royal Spratling, Blaine Wixom, Lorus Prattt P T Bateman. Dale and Dean Lyn, WiJson Bateman, Albert Dimond, Stanley Malstrom, Max Spratling, Wilford, Ross and Alma Egbert, Jack Smith, Allan Gardner and Will Birch, were among the deer hunters from West Jordan, some of whom were successful in getting their deer while others did not even see one. Mrs Hyrum Stocking of Salt Lake City visited with Mr & Mrs Russell Stocking Wednesday. Mrs George Baboulis entertained at a birthday party for her daughter, Pauline, Monday after school, it being her 11th birthday. Halloween decorations were used and Halloween games enjoyed. Refreshments were served to 14 friends. June Robinson, Orem, formerly of West Jordan, spent the weekend with her friend, Carolyn Ho~ gan. Mrs Leland D Hogan of Salt Lake City is visiting her husband's parents, Mr & Mrs Donald Hogan Sr. Mrs WilliamS Dimond has been very ill dudng the week. MIA GROUPS ENTERTAIN AT SEPARATE PARTIES Several parties were held Tuesday evening by various West Jordan M I A groups. The Junior Girls entertained for the Sehior Scouts and the Gleaner Girls were entertained at the Spratling home by Rela S Pair. The special interest group and Bee-Hive Girls also held separate parties. BIRTHDAY PARTY FETES FRANCIS OAKESON Mrs Francis Oakeson entertained for her husband on his 50th birthday Sunday, at their home in TaylorsviJle. A hot dinner was served to 40 guests~ followed by music and the singing of old songs. The Oakesons are former residents of East Midvale. ELLIOTT CARLSEN FETED ON 7th BIRTHDAY Mrs Korman Carlsen of East Midvale, entertained 13 small guests Tuesday afternoon complimenting her son, Elliott on his 7th birthday. A beautiful 3 tier birthday cake centered the refreshment table. Elliott and his friends spent the afternoon playing games. Mrs Mildred E Hair entertained at a famHy dinner in honor: of her brother, Lee J Egbert, who will leave soon for overseas, and their mother, Mrs Clara Egbert, who leaves for San Francisco, to visit another son Lt Dean F Egbert and family. Those present were Mr & Mrs Lee Egbert and family of Midvale, Mr & Mrs A W Egbert of Ogden, Mrs VeLoy Whitehouse and daughter of Tooele, Mrs Thelma Egbert of Salt Lake City and Mr & Mrs R D Hair and their mother, Mrs Clara Egbert. Mrs W P Young entertained recently at her home in East Midvale for her son, J Lowell Young, of Farragut, Idaho, Ross Burningham, Dorothy Bennion and Leora Hess. J Lowell Young is continuing his navy training at Farragut. Another son, George W Young, Y 1-c, has been transferred from Shoemaker, Calif, to the navy station <.~t Mare Island, Calif. Recently a ''Pep Club" was organized for the MIA boys. The following were chosen as leaders: Sophie Bakoulas, president; Peggy Makris, vice president, Carol Pearson, secretary; Merridy Atwoodt chairman of cheer Jeaders for planning yells. OBITUARIES NEILS P SWENSON Funeral services for Neils P Swenson, 86, a Salt Lake county resident for 70 years, who clied at the home of his son, Clyde Swenson, '~Nednesday, Oct 18, in Sandy, were held Saturday with Bishop Lawrence T Dahl officiating. Burial was in Murray city cemetery, where the grave was dedicated by William J Leak. Mr Swenson was born Aug 28,. 1858 in Evrod, Swden a son of Peter T and Kjesta Nilson Swenson. He came to Salt Lake county in 1874 and married Eudora Ranck Nov 22. 1880, who died 28 years ago. oFr more than 18 years he ·was an employe of Bingham and Garfield railroad and worked at the old Mingo and Bingham smelters in Sandy and Midvale. He was also employed by United States Smelting and Refining smelter at Midvale. He was an active L D S church worker and held many offices in the West Jordan L D S ward. He filled a mission for his church in Sweden, 1906-1908. His survivors 98c include 3 daughters, Mrs Geneva Erickson~ Orange, Calif; Mrs S W Bateman and Mrs Edith Orgill, West Jordan; 5 sons, P A and Andrew S Swenson of East Midvale; Clyde S and Lyle S Swenson of Sandy and Clifford S Swenson of Riverton; 4 7 grandchildren and 42 great ..grandchildren of which 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild are now serving in the armed forces.
