They presented her with a beautiful pot ted plant and' she was presented with a red, white and blue rosette with pearl trimming. There is but one person, a man, residing in St George, who is older than Mrs Rasmussen, in the state of Utah. During the past week numerous letters and cards of congratulations have been received by Mrs Rasm ussen from various parts of the state and nation. Many have called at her home to greet her and offer their felicitations. On Sunday several relatives and friends called at the home of her daughter, Mrs Olivia Claire in Sandy, with whom Mrs Rasmussen has made her hom e the past several years. She was presented with many gifts and larg~ bouquets of flowers denoting the loveliness of her life and the service she has ren dered during her long life upon this earth. This remarkable elderly lady is very elert for her age. She takes great interest in the happenings of the present and the future. She has a vivid memory and relates many incidents of the past. She remembers her old acquaintances when they write or call to see her. When asked of what she contributed her long life, she said, "By moderate eating of the best of foods, and lots of hard work." It is remarkable how her little frail body of less than 100 pounds can withstand the many ills and pains that come to persons of advanced age. Mrs Rasmussen bore an outstanding testimony at Sandy First ward sact·ament service on Sunday, June 4. Her testimony has never faltered in the many years she has lived upon the earth. Mrs Rasmussen was born June 11, 1844, at Seem, Denmark, a daughter of Peter and Moriah Peterson . She marded Andrew Rasmussen in Denmark in April, 1866. They came to America after they had joined the L D S church, and it took them six weeks to cross the ocean, and according to Mrs Rasmussen, "We almost lost our lives in the storm." The family carne to Salt Lake and later settled at Moroni, and later at Castledale in 1879. There a seemingly tireless little woman acted as mid-wife with out recompense for her work, her only thought being to help and serve others. She has been given credit for assisting in 464 births of children, as many as three in a single day. Because of no doctors, she also helped with other types of cases as well. Mrs Rasmussen is the mother of 11 children, four of whom are living.
