N. :Jensen, superintendent of the :Jordan school district, was guest speaker at the meeting of the Women's Republican club of Salt Lake county, held Monday evening at the Congregational church in Sandy, with Mrs. Orson Smith of Draper, president of the club, in charge. Dr. Jensen spoke on "Education in War Time.'' Musical selections included cornet selections, "One the Road to Mandalay" and "Trees," by Myron Lewis of Draper, accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Thella Hunter. ship banquet. L. A number of young women from West Jordan and vicinity have been invited as partners for the soldiers. The swing band from the training center will aid in furnishing entertainment. Arrangements are in charge of Mrs. Arthur Richardson and Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Jorgensen, West Jordan. The Sunday school meets at 10 a.m. and the morning worship service is at 11 a.m., when the pastor expects to speak on the last section of the Apostle's Creed, "The resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. ' The Scripture text is found in the Gospel of John, "I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live." Butte r Salt Lake county and all other counties of Utah must be ready by November 21 to set into motion plans for voluntary meet rationing throughout the state Dr. Seth T. Shaw, state chairman of the "Share the Meat" campaign for voluntary meat rationing, declared this week. Dr. Shaw was named chairman of the drive by Governor Herbert B. Maw. Arrangements were made by Dan M. Whelan, field representative of the Utah Council for Defense, for the naming of a war service chairman of the county defense council for this county. The chairman is to name a leader in every black and area within the county. Some time during the week, beginning November 23, state nutritionists will visit the county and instruct the chairman and block leaders in the governments plan for rationing. Alma Richardson, former WestJordanite, now of Washington, D. C., was seen meandering around the "College Inn" Tuesday afternoon. He will spend a few days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Richardson before returning to the east. OBITUARIES BERTHA ANDERSON HAUN Bertha Anderson Haun, 60, widow of the late David M. Haun, died Sunday morning at her home of coronary thrombosis. She was bom in Norway, Oct. 30, 1882, a daughter of Antoine and Julia Anderson. Mrs. Haun was a Relief Society teacher for a number of years until ill health made it necessary for her to be released. She loved her home and family and was very hospitable and friendly to all her acquaintances. E. Anderson of Salt Lake, A. L. Anderson of Almagordo, New Mexico; R. W. Anderson of Murray, George Henry Anderson and Clarence L. Anderson of Salt Lake; two sisters, Mrs. Hilma Swenson of Murray and Mrs. Evald Nygren of Salt Lake, and eight grandchildren. Services were held at the West Jordan ward chapel under direction of Bishop Lawrence T. Dahl on Thursday. Interment was in the West Jordan cemetery. MARY H. M. JENKINS Mrs. Mary Henrietta Morrow :Jenkins, 66, widow of Ralph Jenkins, died Friday at 3 p.m. at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Carl C. Jenson, of carcinoma. She was born at Granger on :January 26, 1876, a daughter of William A. and Margaret McFar· land Morrow, and had lived in Midvale 20 years. She was active in the Midvale L.D.S. Second ward Relief Society. Surviving are a son and three daughters: Herman :Jenkins and Mrs. Jenson of Midvale; Mrs. Edward S. Martin of Preston, Idaho, and Mrs. Lee Steck of Ashton, Idaho; 15 grandchildren and six brothers and sisters: Linus Morrow and Mrs. Bertha Brunson of Midvale, Mrs. Ada :Jenkins of Copperton, Mrs. Sadie Stevenson of Tustin, Calif.; William A. Morrow of Sandy and Arthur Morrow of Garfield. Funeral services were conducted Monday at 1 p. m. in the Midvale L D.S. Second ward chapel by Bishop Henry Beckstead.
