Show Fear Main Cause Middle Age Jitters Any one in the forties or fifties is apt to contract that needless disease, middle-age jitters. Just when you should be enjoying this period of life, you keep wishing you were young and never had to be old. A variety of fears, writes Raymond Fuller in the December Cosmopolitan, beset the middleaged, such as fear of ill health, fear of old age, fear of losing one's job, fear of ceasing to be loved. Fears, he says, are not necessarily fanciful. But the brave are not the fearless. They are those who face and conquer their fearfulness. To allay this fear, Mr. Fuller suggests a periodical examination by your physician. If something is wrong the treatment will make the world look a lot brighter; if nothing is wrong, then you needn't worry. Have more recreation and fun, he urges middle-aged people. Keep on learning new things. Serve your community and country. Then, to keep abreast of the current "accent on youth" trend, associat~ with young people. Take an interest in them, learn their ideas. Fear, Fuller, concludes, is a middle-aged person's worst enemy, confidence his strongest ally. Once he has recovered from middle-age jitters he may achieve a new kind of happiness, even a greater degree of usefulness than he ever knew in earlier life. New York City's Domestic Relations Court. "Marriage is too easy and divorce sometimes too difficult. The difficulty is sometimes too difficult. The difficulty involved is with the children. Divorce which j takes away from the child his home deprives him of that essential security the loss of which is so destructive of character. But there is no security in a home bombed and broken by emotional outbursts. If parents fail to submerge self, a child living with one parent in peace will find greater happiness than if forced to spend his childhood in a bomb shelter." MAN SHOWN AS ETERNALLY PERFECT AND UNFALLEN Adam and Fallen Man is the subject of the Lesson Sermon for Sunday, November 9. Among the Scriptural references are: "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him;" <Gen. 1: 27). "We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always to God for you. That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and has translated us into the kingdom of his dear son." <Col. 1: 3, 10, 13). "For ye are all the Children of God by faith in Christ Jesus." <Gal. 3: 26). The following excerpts are from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy: "Divine Science rolls back the clouds of error with the Divorce Often Destroys light of Truth, and lifts the curtain on man as never born and Character of Children never dying, but coexistent with Out of every six marriages, one his creator." Fall preparation includes application of barnyard manure or other fertilizer and plowing of the garden spot. "It is advisable for people living on the farm to prepare their gardens in the fall because in many cases if the work is lett until spring the rush of work forces the garden plowing to wait until later," Dr. Stark explained. Thus much time is lost and vegetables that could be used in the family diet are not available until a much later time than they will be if the plot is prepared ••• not when you put Clle11p Electricity I to work lor you! this fall. The horticulturist pointed out that early gardens grow faster and better than those planted later. They are also freer from weeds. Another advantage of fall preparation he listed is an improved tilth of the soil. If the garden spot is prepared in fall and allowed to stand through the winter the frost breaks up the clods and helps to decompose the fertilizer. This puts the soil in excellent condition for plant «rowth in the spring, and makes gardening easier. • Urban garden owners whose TABLETS (N.F.)
